There is no difference in stats between male and female Pokemon. It's only when breeding Pokemon that the gender matters (and of course when concerning attract). The baby Pokemon always takes on the mother's species. So as someone else in this forum pointed out, make sure your starter is female if you want to breed it in the hopes of getting one with better stats and if you want to properly train it's EV points for maximum stat increase.i always catch males cause im sure i read some where that males have stronger attacks whilst females have stronger defense... and i always get to impatient to defend in pokemon ;P
