I have high tolerance for DS games and their faults. The N64 graphics, the games that don't even use the second screen for anything, games that need me to use the touch screen so much I get afraid of playing... but this is my last straw. Why some games(points in case: both Zeldas and Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness) need not only to move with the stylus, but also have no way of moving with the good ol' fashioned D-pad? They're not RTSs or anything else that require point-and-click movement, and they have nothing better to use the buttons for than menus. And, to boot, the stylus isn't exactly precise, so you can only move well broadly; trying to pinpoint objects or places is frustrating. Several times I watered the wrong patch because I wasn't exactly in the right place. Also, it's not like these games have nothing to do with the touch screen to justify this. Rune Factory showed us the best use of stylus in that series ever: clicking lots of patches at once to do one repetitive task automatically(watering was a breeze!); Zelda has lots of nice things done with the touch(like boomerang and bombchu control, and playing that neat pan flute :haha:). So it's not like they needed that to justify being in a DS.Agree? Disagree? Random LOL? Let's discuss! :(

I see what you mean. I remember playing pokemon ranger (Which did actually have a reason to use it). I used an emulator so it's not the same thing but I can imagine how you feel. I guess it's to make the game easier and not having to switch continuously between the D-pad and the screen.Pokemon rangers used the Touchscreen a lot and so the game had to be played purely on the lower screen. Now If they didn't have touch movement I would have been extremely frustrated If i wasn't close enough and had to go back and press the D-pad again before coming back to try again. In such cases I like touch screen movement. It's also a pretty casual way to play. You can use the touchscreen without concentrating much or having the DS in a 'gaming' position but to use the D-pad you really need it in your hand. You can't do anything else.

lets see.... i don't mind using stylus as long as i don't have to be in a battle, otherwise i get too mad... but i really enjoy the stylus for pokemon... it makes getting iems so much easier and the battles a bit simpler(as if it could get any easier :D) I also enjoyed the stylus for princess debut. You used the stylus to 'dance' certain moves and you needed to follow the pattern with the beat.Otherwise its almost completely useless in the rpgs i play XD

i like using the stylus to move, as long as the game integrated good and sensitive touch controls. i absolutely hate switching back and forth, having to pull out the stylus for some small aspect of the game and then going back to using the buttons. real annoying. i want games to either be all stylus or all button, or a consistent combination of both (like all d-pad to move and all stylus to attack) stead of that stupid back-n-forth crap that a lotta mediocre games implement

I can't stand being forced to use the stylus for movement. Gaming these days is basically all about options and nothing pisses me off more than when a developer will go out of their way to ruin a potentially great game by forcing me to use the stylus and then have the d-pad control NOTHING. I mean WTF.

I personally hate stylus-dependent games, since it becomes a strain in my hand most of the time. I like being able to use the D-pad more often, and the stylus for some things, but I don't want it to be dominant.

Go big or go home. Because it's true. What do you have to lose?
