thanks for the link. I was using a 1.08 chinese kernel yesterday.so the problem was you were using a english r4 kernel on a chinese r4, ok thats why, that screen probably said incompatible kernel, here you got kernel 1.09 chinesehttp://gbatemp.net/i...hp?download=535

i got two q. q 1 - does R4 only allows to play nds rom? can play other rom?q 2 - if my R4 is english version, can it play non english nds rom games like japanese game?

Hey all!Disregard my help for the pokemon Diamond problem, i have no need for it now.For some reason i downloaded another copy of diamond/pearl and when i load up my save file for Pearl on my R4 it works fine, so i'm no longer getting the black screen effect...If anyone else is getting this problem, try downloading another version of the game...

All I need to do is hit the games icon and be able to scroll down a list of game titles in English, if the Chinese R4 will still have the game titles in English then that all I need to understand.

you can tell which game it is by its icon, each game has a picture so yes you an navigate the R4 without needing to know english, my brothers gf 4yr old son has a R4 he cant read so he just goes by the picture lol. Thanks for all your help, no card today, hopefully tomorrow, kinda wish i'd bought one on the high street now. I only won the auction on the 27th and it has to come from Hong Kong to the UK plus it was a bank holiday so there's no surprise it's no here yet, i'm just impatient.I've got the two files on my desktop ready and waiting, English 1.08 and Chinese 1.09, so after i've formatted the card I just drop the four files (system,moonshell,the dat files and ds_mshl.nds) onto the card then the roms and see if it works?. I'll try it with English 1.08 first then if it's doesn't work do I just go back into the microsd folder and remove the English files and replace them with Chinese 1.09?.It's a good job there's free help forums like this on the net, because even for what seems like an easy drag and drop process I would have been screwed. Nothing on the disc that came with the R4 mentions anything about the Chinese/English compatibility issue!.

Yes, you would need an emulator and I'll warn you now, the compatibility for everything but NES isn't that great. The SNES emulator for the DS has very poor compatibility, I hear the Genesis emu isn't too bad, but no where near the NES compatibility. I'm not totally sure about arcade emulation, but I'd guess that if it's really old, it might work, if it's less than 10 years old, it probably won't.then if can play arcade, genesis, snes all these rom, do i have to put emulator on R4 or can just play using NDS lite without the repsective emulator

yes the ds roms work on the R4, but not the gba roms, also if you want to play other roms, you will need to download other emulators, i use snesmulds, its a great snes emulator, and yeah the arcade mame emulator only supports a small lists of games.I have some questionsAre the NDS roms I download from DGEmu able to work on R4? andDoes R4 play any other roms?

sorry the firmware is in a type of zip, called rar, you will need to download and install a program called winrar, this program is free and works on both macs and windows, google it.Ok thanks but one more question, I try to download the firmware but it always comes up with these things on Notepad.....?? How i download the full firmware.

what things in notepad?if you are just opening the firmware on your computer using notepad, thats not gonna mean anything. u can open anything with notepad.

if you have not installed winrar on your computer, and hit opens it will open it in notepad and dispaly gibberish this is true for many files, if you just click open without associating the filetype.what things in notepad?if you are just opening the firmware on your computer using notepad, thats not gonna mean anything. u can open anything with notepad.

Still no Micro SD :PHere's a question, I know downplay doesn't work with this but can say you bought two R4 and put Sonic Rush rom on both of them, would you then be able to play multiplayer between them or is wi-fi the only multiplayer option with the R4?.

hey there, im thinking of getting an R4 but iv got a question. if you use the R4 does it reformat your ds, so you cant play the actual original games you already have? and another question: whats the point of flashing your ds? is it recommended before using r4?

the R4 does nothing to your ds, its just like a normal game, and as for flashing, its if you want, you usually flash your ds so that you can restore it if you download a virus, people make viruses to try and destroy your destroy and only download things that you get from a reliable source, people rename viruses to real ds programs to try and get people to destroy their ds's, you dont have too, its just a way for you to be extra safe.hey there, im thinking of getting an R4 but iv got a question. if you use the R4 does it reformat your ds, so you cant play the actual original games you already have? and another question: whats the point of flashing your ds? is it recommended before using r4?
