hmm, try updating your firmware to the latest version from r4ds.net because you may have an old firmware, because I'm sure most of those run perfect on the latest firmware, other than Castlevania, which doesn't run correctly on most MSD cards. If that doesn't work, then your MSD card is either a fake, or not suited to the R4, because some makes of MSD are incompatible with R4, if you didn't know.I just got my R4 over the weekend. So far, my only issues are games freezing up on me. Is the freezing associated with the R4? Or is it caused by the ROM file itself? Mario Kart - trying to connect to wireless networkCastlevania: Portrait of Ruin - half the time I try to speak to 'Wind', it freezes.Trauma Center - during some of stagesSonic Hedgehog - random stagesDragon Quest Heroes - cannot progress after the 'enter name' at the beginning.I'm trying to figure out if there's something faulty with my R4 unit or if it's bad ROM data. Any feedback, greatly appreciated.

the freezing issue could also be the sd card being too slow. i know for sure that castlevania freezes for most sd cards because it's sensitive to speed. the rest of the games might be a firmware issue, since i have a super slow sd card and i haven't had problems with those.

Question...do you need action replay to use the codes or is it part of the r4? and if it is part of the r4 are the codes that are on there the ones you get or can you add more? I'm thinking of like pokemon codes to get any item and random pokemon encounters?The R4 firmware 1.08 and above comes with cheat codes on selected games, simply click Y to go to the cheat code option screen.

i have rocket slime and it works flawlessly, its probably your micro sd card, what brand is it? i know that 1gb sandisk are pretty slow and that causes freezes on some games like castelavania portrait of ruin and did your format your card, most people say format your card with 32kb clusters and it fixes the read speed of the card.The R4 already has ver 1.09 installed. I just reformatted my card to FAT32. Rocket Slime still freezes after the 'enter name' screen.I have a SanDisk 2 GB card. Err...how do i stick cheats onto my R4? mine didnt come with the whole cheat program or something and i want some cheats for some game emergencies...is there any way i can stick cheats on the R4?(edited)nvm, i downloaded the hacked chinese into english version and it came with the cheats. I have a problem with "NDSMail"When I open it up it first says "Configuration file could not be opened," then it says "folder file could not be opened."Then it goes to the menu screen but I can't send any mail or look at my mail. I have a GMAIL and I don't know how to get my mail to open.I'd appreciate some help, thanks.

For some odd reason I can't get wirelss to work with Mario Kart DS. I keep getting a connection error and hte same happens to my friends who also have R4's. I first thought it had to do with some protection issue, but apparently it works for some people. I have read something about not trimming the game, but I don't trim any of my games so I doubt that is the issue. Does anyone have any clue what the problem could be? thanks

I don't know if any of you had this kind of a problem with your R4 but here's what happened. I took my R4 out and put it in the leather case while I played a real cart of Pokemon Diamond for most of today. When I put the R4 back in a few minutes ago, after I tapped the left square for roms, it froze and gave me a blank screen. I'm thinking right now that I need to reformat the 1 gig and c/p everything back into the 1 gig, including the kernel. Any ideas on this?

hmm, it probably is, mate. I'm sorry to tell you this, but you may have to buy a different MSD card. Kingston are supposedly the ones that work with the least problems. Still, Rocket Slime wasn't that good, imo. But it's your opinion that counts here. Is it worth buying a new MSD just to be able to play one game? Think it over.Also, good luck trying to get your co-workers to buy an R4, and you ain't a n00b, never put yourself down like that. I've seen people worse than you. For example- my friend. nope mmd is a slot 2 flash cart, not to mention that it was not really made to play ds roms, people hacked it too, but those people abandoned it since it was so much easier and cheaper just buy one made for it.does any of this work with the max media dock?

How do I install the new 1.10 kernel onto my R4 please? I've looked on my memory card for a rar file but have been unable to locate one

i have no idea what you are talking about, anyways to upgrade to 1.10.you download it here.http://www.r4ds.com/soft/16-en.htmopen it with winrar, open the folder that says english 1.10, and copy over the 2 files and 2 folders inside, ds_menu.dat,ds_mshl.dat, and the two folders _system,moonshel, it will then overwrite the old firmware inside.How do I install the new 1.10 kernel onto my R4 please? I've looked on my memory card for a rar file but have been unable to locate one

lol, what? that cd is just a normal cd, with the software on it, its smaller to size money, you really dont need all that extra plastic, the cd has the firmware on it, and save converters etc........Reply to it?

i threw it away, its the same one you download off the internet, when they make the R4 they make a cd with the latest firmware but by the time you get it, the firmware is usually old.Is it any better to use it? 'Cause I havn't even touched it yet.
