anyone have a problem where your DS can't read the R4 because it doesn't push in all the way? Mine is very touchy, I usually have to take it out/put it back in a few tries before it will read. If I push it in with my fingers it will read every time, but that can get tiring on the hands.

The R4 should be able to support all non HC sd cards. However the most recommended card is probably the Kingston 2GB Made in Japan card.

I need a bit of help if possible. Recently, I've noticed games freezing more often. In fact, games that previously worked perfectly are now freezing on me or experiencing drops in frame rates. Does this have anything to do with the fact that my 2GB card is almost full or is there some other reason behind the increase in freezing. Thanks.

While it is a different flashcart, my NinjaDS had the same problem. I was able to find it, but you may not, that is unless you have a PocketPC like me. See, on a PocketPC, they have programs that can manage SD cards and Micro SD card using thos SD adapters, and they show details right down to the manufacturer (chip manufacturer, not card manufacturer).The problem I found is that by default, formatting the cards in WindowsXP makes a backup FAT table. What that is is that for each time you write data to your card, your card will also write to this Backup FAT area of what you recently wrote, which is, as you may have guessed, a backup. This is mainly for restoring the card in the event your card becomes corrupted. The drawback of having a backup FAT is, as you also may have guessed, slower card performance.We all know the main functions of a SD card in a flash cart is reading games and writing save data. Granted, it doesn't constantly save every 5 minutes (unless your the type that does save every 5 minute2 in Advance Wars), I see no need for having a Backup FAT on a SD card in a flashcart. My R4DS has no problems due to what I know so far, so unless you have a device that can format cards without a backup FAT I can't help there. So far the only devices I know that can format cards without a backup FAT are PocketPC's, for some odd reason formatting in cellphones dont work either as it is worse, cell phones format with a low cluster size(slow write speed) and with a backup FAT. In my experience, and I have a hell lot of experience with SD cards, is that the more you read and write to your card, with a backup FAT, the more slower your card performance will be. We all know a certain speed is required for some games, and in the case of a PocketPC, certain programs need a certain speed to run well.So while I'm here I'd like to ask some R4DS owners, do you have problems loading newer games on your R4DS? I decided to read up on dsfanboy.com about future game releases, and I read a comment on that R4DS firmware killer for fake carts, and one comment said they had problems loading the latest games on their R4DS. While they may have those card issues I previously stated here, or they have a fake R4DS, which I would like to think they have a fake R4DS, do any of you have a problem loading games? The newest game I can load on my R4DS is 2411 - Evolution GT, and that has no problems. Reason why I'm asking is I got this R4DS recently so I want to make sure those idiot comments at dsfanboy were only users of fake R4DS's. I'm guessing this is the place to post this so...I just received my R4 in the mail today. I had bought a SanDisk 4GB memory card months ago to replace my old 2GB. This was due to my R4 spazzing out on me and giving me a "Loading..." screen but never booted up. So after buying the 4GB card and trying the R4 with that it still didn't work. Now I've replaced the old R4 with a new one from the same place I bought my last one, except it keeps giving me a "Loading..." screen and won't let me boot up. I've reformatted the card and the R4 is legit. I'm at the end of my rope because I now have a new memory card and flash card and neither seem to want to work, even after using the latest firmware. What can I do to solve this?

Is your 4GB micro SD a SDHC card is so tthen that is your problem, the R4 does not support HC cards. You'll most likely have to get a 2GB micro card.

I reed in the web, that came out a new firmware to support SDHC. It's called Kernel v1.19 and v1.20.Here is the site http://www.ndslr4.com/index-en.htmWhat i don't know is if this firmware works with R4, or only works with this new version of the R4 SDHC??

That site seems suspicious, looks almost like a copy and paste of the original R4 website but just added SDHC to most pages. You can test it if you want, but I wouldn't try it.

quick question about the R4: it likes to freeze up on me on the most critical moments while playing a game. So far, it does it for FF:crystal chronicals, yu-gi-oh, advance wars, and sometimes metal slug. I've heard random things from like dust to (my theory) damage from overheating the little chip when I use the USB to download roms (it gets super hot). The only thing I CAN say is that the roms don't freeze on my emulator. I'm using version 1.18 software to run the romsThanks for the help
