Hello.I have an R4 DS, 2 gig Sandisk, DS Lite.Just got it. I didn't get a CD so I just downloaded firmware 1.19 from the r4ds website. BTW, I tried 1.25 for SDHC (for kicks) and it didn't work. Anyways, I got the cart working in my DS. This tutorial is great for getting started. My questions are more about what all the options are for. What do they mean? It looks like things are customizable. I don't think I actually want to change anything, though. I'm just wanting more documentation on everything, I guess.Pressing the Start button once I've started a game doesn't do anything for me. It was my understanding that I could press it and go back to the either the Games menu or the initial menu (where I can choose games, media or slot-2). It doesn't matter how many times I press it, it doesn't do anything. But then that is where I'm wondering if my cart is configured to not recognize this function. For now, when I'm done with a game, I am having to shut down and restart. I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that but at least I have more than one game on a cart and am not spending time unloading/reloading them!I figured out the LCD brightness. What is the R4Menu all about? In one attempt, I did not include this folder but the DS wouldn't load until I put it back on the microSD card. That wiki compatibility chart is awesome. I found that about a week ago when I was digging around for info on these cards. Definately something to keep in the bookmarks. Thanks!TracyDS Lite, R4DS, 2GB Sandisk

I was looking through the other topics and I couldn't find my answer. SO I have R4-III Upgrade (R4DS) And it was working just fine untill I tried putting a new game on it. I put the game on like usual and went to load it, and when I tried it froze the whole system. I tried an old game and it worked fine. SO if anyone has the answer to this is would be great. Should I just reformat my micro sd card? Thank you very much~Qwan~

Have you checked for new firmware? If there is one then update ur R4's firmware. Otherwise try putting the rom on to your micro SD again thay may fix the problem.

Sorry if this has already been asked but there are 79 pages on this topic and I'm honestly too lazy to search thorugh them all for this:On the box it says that the R4 automatically detects save types etc, so why won't it load up my Disgaea DS rom? It gives me the same error message that it gives me on the no$gba when I have the wrong savetype, the save data could not be read, turn off the game and start again. How can I get around this, or am I doing something wrong?EDIT: I figured out that I clicked the wrong firmaware link on the site, and got the 1.17 version and noticed that Disgaea works with the 1.18 after I looked at the compatability list...

Since the search function is still not working, I can't check whether there is an existing solution posted over here.Anyways, a couple of weeks ago I bought EZFlash V 3 in 1 Expansion Pack (for NDS browser, homebrew/gba and rumble)I bought this because I read on several sites (gbatemp and forums etc) that there are patches available soR4DS will recognize this EZflash expansion pack, since it's originally only bound to work with EZ flashcart.I tried several patches and programs (I only want to use the NDS browser)But still, when I open the browser, it says it can't find a ram..So, if you know anything about this, much appreciated.(If my sentences look weird, I'm sorry, still practicing..)

You require Rudolph's EzFlash 3in1 exppack tool which will allow you to play GBA roms and use rumble/ramhttp://www009.upp.so.../nds/ExpLoader/If it doesn't work u can try the GBAexp loader which is a updated version.Run the homebrew which the 3in1 exp pack in it then press L/R till you get the the Rumbel+RAM function.

Well, the thing is, I tried several of those programs, including the ones you named. When I used them, I could indeed change to the RAM function.. but when starting the Nintendo Browser,, it still wouldn't recognize it. I did read somewhere that you need a clean rom.. what is a clean rom?Is the nintendo ds browser rom on DGEMU a clean one?

a clean rom is a rom that hasn't been patched or anything, all roms downloaded are usually clean, I think that the DS web browser rom needs to be patched so it detects the 3in1 if i remember right

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I can't seem to get past the load screen for Final Fantasy IV. If I erase the .sav file that was created, it loads up fine but once that's in place and the game loads, the screen just turns black after the Square-Enix logo shows up. Is there any way to fix this? I already tried redownloading the ROM but that doesn't seem to be the problem. Btw, I have an R4-III UpgradeEDIT: nvm, wiped the card clean, reuploaded the software and got a faster micro SD

Not sure if this problem have been asked before, but I need some help with my R4 (and 80 pages is just too much to go through). I've downloaded some games and placed them in my R4 after removing games that I've finished. I tried checking some of the game and everything seems to be ok, however when I turn off my ds and turn it back on...... well it restart like normal, but when I select an option (games, music, 2nd slot) it went blank. It doesn't happend only when I choose "game" but also the other 2. Can anyone tell me what's wrong, is it the R4 or is it the ds? I'm almost pretty sure it's the R4, cause when I start my ds without the R4 everything worked fine. Anyway, please help and thank you in advance.

Try replacing the firmware, if you still have a copy of the firmware on your computer put that on your micro and replace the files.

The only R4 I see on that site is SDHC, which is a clone of the original R4DS. Don't buy it, it's just a cheap knockoff and not of as high quality as a real R4. I got mine from this site, which I know is pretty reliable.http://www.ishopvide...ard-p-1595.htmlPlus, it's dirt cheap to boot.Just look around the site a bit to find an R4 package that's right for you. That one has a 2 GB MicroSD card included, which is recommended, but if you already have one, then don't buy another. Regardless, ishopvideogame.com is a good site.

Nice. Just be sure to download the proper firmware (1.18) from the official R4DS site.http://r4ds.cn/Don't accidentally download the firmware for the SDHC, because the two products are completely separate and incompatible. If you have problems, your best bet is to wipe clean the card and then plop the firmware onto it without messing with anything. That usually fixes any issues.

Which roms are you trying to play? I believe the R4 will have trouble running some of the more current releases, also currently a number of R4 users are using YSMenu(homebrew) to increase rom compatibility.

I am trying to run The World Ends With You, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2, Blue Dragon Plus, Disgaea DS, Kirby Super Star Ultra. Quite a few and they are not working. It says "This types of files currently not allowed to operate." Does FAT or FAT32 matter at all? Cause i did FAT.If you could tell me where to download the YSmenu it would be helpful. (If its not aloud in the forum send a PM.)Fixed the problem, i renamed the roms and it changed them from .NDS files.

I'm playing Platinum (:teehee:), but whenever I save my game, and reopen it, it says the save file was erased due to damage or corruption. I also checked the card file, and my save file is still there. Any help on that? Thanks. :rofl:Well, I realized people were too busy to solve my problem. I went site-trawling and solved it. I'll help other people too :sly:

How do i go about adding AR codes to my R4? Seems like you can bypass anti-piracy things with an AR so i need to learn what to do.

http://cheats.gbatemp.net/Tutorial: How to Put Cheats on Your Slot 1 Card—–R4DS/M3DS Simply/N5DS Cheat Tutorial—–(1) The R4DS uses the cheat.dat and usrcheat.dat files. Use only one of these files, not both as using both can cause some cheats not to show up.(2) After downloading the cheat.dat and usrcheat.dat files from the links provided, use WinRar/WinZip/7-Zip to extract the files.(3) Copy the extracted files.(4) Go to your SD card and paste the files in the “_system_” folder.(5) If prompted to replace an older cheat file, click “yes” to proceed and overwrite the old cheat database.(Generally, you'll use USRCHEAT.DAT, unless you encrypt your NDS ROMs, which I'm sure you don't.)
