I didn't think about that, it could be why he's getting an error in Chinese. But, English firmware will work on Chinese units, there shouldn't be any problem there.it depends on the language uf ur r4. if ur r4 is chinese and u try to put an english firmware then it won't work and vice versa.

they are not a official seller, they buy them whole sale in bulk, but i know from other forums that they can be trusted, i myself have purchased 6 R4's from them 2 of them were defective, after they received my returned package they reimbursed me for the return shipping directly into my paypal account based on the amount on the package, so they are one of the best deals out there.Also, I don't see dealextreme on the R4 website as a trusted website to buy things from.http://www.r4ds.com/world-en.htm

the r4's in chinese (from Honk Kong-from some shop called 'twin star'), it's the real one with no "2gb" sticker on the front and the inside box is the white box with r4 written on on and the box is the same as the DS lite in length and around 3/4 of the DS lite in width. Is there a way to change the firmware into english? because i've tried with the english version(v.1.07 and v.1.08) on this from the r4 website and it doesn't workI didn't think about that, it could be why he's getting an error in Chinese. The R4 kit comes with a USB drive, you put the microsd in the USB stick and attach it to your computer. The microSD comes with an SD converter, so you can put the microsd card in it and it acts like a normal SD card. You only have to buy two things, the R4 and a microsd card, those two things give you everything you need.Thanks for the help! Now, I found the Micro SD Card but I don't know if it has a reader. When you go to Multimedia it brings you to moonshell. Try replacing moonshell with the English version, see if that works so you at least have moonshell in English. Then replace the cheat file with the English version. When you highlight a game, all it says is to hit Y for cheats, then it brings up a list of cheats for the game you hit Y on.Edit: Also, I just found out that you cannot use English firmware on a Chinese card. where did you order it from? and what shipping method did you use, it depends on the carrier of the package i know that dealextreme free shipping takes about 2 weeks to get to calif from hong kong, but i have also paid for the fast shipping and it got to me in 5 days.How long would it take for my R4 to be delivered from Hong Kong to Massachusetts, USA? OK, I'm a little confused here...How can a slot-1 cart can allow playing GBA game? I ask because I was hesitating between a slot-1 and a slot-2 solution and playing GBA games is a important factor for my choice. I prefer the slot-1 because it's easier so if you're telling me that it's possible to play GBA games, I'll go with that.

So is the software that you are talking about only software meant to flash the DS's firmware or does every app have the risk of bricking a DS?Also, can this be checked with an emulator before putting on the DS?Actually, those are trojans, not viruses, but the point still stands.Also, badly written software by well-meaning developers can also damage your firmware.

at this point in time slot1 flashcarts CANT play GBA roms. there may be a point in the future when someone makes a GBA Emu for slot1 DS flashcarts, but currenl there is none.@gamegeek2: any software has the potential to brick ur DS. this also includes official game carts, but extremely rarely. just make sure u dont run any software from a untrustworthy source like torrents and you should be fineOK, I'm a little confused here...How can a slot-1 cart can allow playing GBA game? Okay, I already read the guide for the R4, but it just said copy all the files to the miniSD and I want to know if I have to name a folder GAME, ROM, ROMS etc.Or if I can place it anywhere in the root.thanks.If someone knows, PM me as I will never be able to find my post after this.I have 56k dial up T_Talso, does this sound right as the contents of my micro SD:moonshl_system_Contents:roms folderebooks folderthemes folderbckgrd_1.bmpbckgrd_2.bmplogo.bmpgbaframe.bmpicons.bmpI simply copied the contents of the 1.08 firmware and the roms I have... So I should have moonshl, _system_ which I got with the 1.08 kernal and cheat.dat?The only stuff I put on my card was what came in the 1.08 kernal and my roms.yes you can put the roms on a folder, sort roms by genre, for example they make a folder for rpg's, shooters etc........, and what you need on the card is the system folder, the moonshell folder, and the two other files in that kernel.although i dont have a spare copy of the new cheats, you will need to update your cheat.dat if you want the latest games but the R4 server is down.
