Yes we will. technology is created out of necessity. if we all run out of fossil fuels we're not gonna just sit around and mope. we have plenty of other ways to produce energy and if none of them are adequate, we willl find someway to get to work, or where ever we need to be
Fossil fuel, can we live without it?

In my opinion, we need to come together as a whole like changing or abandoning older habits that are inefficient in order to produce a desirable outcome. I mean what is ethical, falls into play due to over population. We can't go and tell people please stop having children there's far to many as is or stop helping people survive as long as they have been now a days. but again just personal opinion.GPs were deducted for this post, please read the rules! - tedsb16

Not developed enough for the Debates section, try to develop some kind of argument.

We as a species have been overly depending on fossil fuels for a period of time upwards of half a century, is change impossible, no. Can we live without fuel, yes. Are we going to be able to in the next 50 years, no. The reason is simple, though many of the high-low class members of most developed countries have access to devices that do not rely upon fossil fuels, the status quoe in developing countries do not allow for this. Fossil fuel is not the best source of energy, but on a global scale, it is the most convenient. Consider developing African nation-countries, where the federal budget is falling short of a few thousand American dollars, are they really going to have the capacity to research and import expensive non diesel energy sources, no. Also, consider the average developed nation, one with access to efficient sources of energy, a similar issue is there also, the people there have developed upon and relied with diesel fuels for so long, that it will be nearly impossible for them to change. Is change possible, yes, is change inevitable, yes, is change going to occur on a global scale over a period of less than a century-no.[/font]

I don't think it's a matter of 'can we', but a matter of 'how will we'. Fossil fuel reserves are being depleted fast, and newly discovered reserves can only add so much more. It's probably a safe bet to say that unless some drastically new super-efficient sustainable source of energy is found, fossil fuel will be depleted in the near future. Of course, when that happens, assuming the current energy production patterns still hold true, severe shortages are inevitable. Thus, energy would be channeled to vital areas first. The economy would definitely take a great hit, and most modern conveniences would also cease to be. Our lifestyles would be forcibly changed and several social issues may explode, poverty being the first. Still, humans have proven themselves a resilient species, and it is doubtless that somewhere in the future, a viable solution would be found. The key question here is, are you willing to give up your current lifestyle until then?

I think we will be able to survive but things are gonna cost much more.I think solar is one of the best ways to start. Install panels on top of everything! Maybe even roads can absorb the sunlight since its one of the most exposed areas.Just lay a hard transparent material on top or so.As for what fuel we have left. Maybe we can conserve.Use cars on weekends and maybe increase public transport frequencies to fit everyone and maybe a taxi company for specific destinations.
