What could be the reason for third world war? I know there are many reasons. But if everyone comes up with a reason, we can find all the reasons. In my opinion, all the super power countries will be the reason for third world war.

Think about the reasons of the past; WWI was the result of new technologies in warfare as well as assassinations like that of Franz Ferdinand's (which I don't know the details of offhand). Also, changes in allegiance between numerous countries didn't help much. But even that's only highlights of what triggered the first war. WWII was dealing a lot more with the rise of Hitler and the holocaust, but also the birth of nuclear warfare created tensions and trust problems that turned many parts of the world against each other. There are a variety of factors that could cause yet another world war, and it's proven that history likes to repeat itself.

Yeah, like KM said, reasons would most likely be very similar to those of the past. It could start with the assassination of some famous leader, or by some country acquiring some sort of superior weaponry, or by a radical group of people of some country invading and attacking another country would jump start a war pretty quickly. If the US, Russia, or Japan are the first ones attacked/brought into the war, then World War III will ensue, and hopefully we won't all die afterwards >.>

A war can be started by so many reason. Blazefire's example is one of them where a resource or commodity is held by certain factions as very valuable and very scarce. Another reason is the people. KM mentioned about the assassination of franz ferdinand which is part of the reason. The main reason is the Treaty of Versailles which was created five years after the archduke franz ferdinand was killed. If I were to try to boil it down to one thing, it's that war is started by the people of certain faction to improve their lives through the domination of other factions.

Well, you got the most possible point. I agree with you. Even though there are many reasons for a war to start. This is the most possible one. Considering we always overuse everything.WWIII will be started by countries fighting over depleting natural resources in the near future.

there are some reason that can make 3rd world war will happen, but there are also several reason why third world war cannot be happen, so I will list them here.the reason for this event will happen:1. the number of human population grow larger and larger every year, so the need for resource increases and there are a maximum limit for these resource can be obtained.2. advancement in technology, especially in warfare and informatics, which can be used as a driven power and propagation of advance country.3. imbalance of economic power between country.4. powerful nation usually act very selfishness and they often forced their idea to many emerging countries and even with other powerful nation with different ideology.the reason for WW3 not going to happen:1. advancement in technology of informatics make it is more likely becoming psy war and cybernetic war rather than direct war.2. the existence of nuclear weapon and mass destructive weapon, make every country try as hard as they can to avoid war and mutual annihilation between other country who have the same weapon.3. the overused technology make some serious damage on earth, and in turn many disaster occur, like climate change, etc.

The reason, if it ever happens, will involve idiots in strategic positions of power who have forgotten about the dangers and threat of total war in an age with nuclear weapons.

Uprisings in countries causing political instability and/or changed alliances due to the uprisings. After this other countries see this as a threat and become involved in their affairs. Then like ww2 other countries become involved and then all you need is a spark and poof you have war.

I believe an arms race like the cold war will escalate into all out war between a number of countries and probably destroy a large percentage of the cities in the waring countries.

Well I'm guessing that right now it's gonna be caused by North Korea and The USA. North Korea is threatening the US because of some training missions their doing in South Korea or something. So I'm guessing North Korea is gonna pull in China and the US is gonna pull in Mexico and Canada. From there it might just escalate like crazy.
