Just want to know how many people fish/buy a magikarp at the start of their pokemon adventure to eventually turn into gyardos and have a very strong water pokemon. Opinions?I did in Yellow and a few other games but then i found different pokemon to work with.
Do you get Magikarp throughout your whol game?

Well, yes! Although there are some better choices, Gyarados will always be, to me, *THE PWNING* Pokemon.

i only used a migikarp in pokemon emerald. i used it the whole game because i think gyradose is pretty good especially when it knows hydro pump and dragon rage

When I've had the chance to get Magikarp, I only have once. Rememeber the guy who sells it just before that cave in the beginning of the first Pokemon games? He got me! There's a red gyarados in Pokemon Gold that I've used a few times, just because it's kinda special and I'm usually not very good at using my rod to get water Pokemons. Magikarp - Pain all overGyarados - Pretty pwn, but not my personal choice.

I used the red Gyarados in Gold and evolved a Magikarp into Gyarados in Platinum. I loved the red one for it's epicness

I LOVE catching a Magikarp for the sole purpose of raising it to eat all other pokémon for breakfast after it evolves. 8D

Yeah, although I only used it on pokemon blue and yellowIn soulsilver the red gyrados was pretty cool but didn't use it, sorry Gyrados :)Magikarp FTW !!

Gyarados is one of the best, but I find it better to experiment more, in my first choice lineup I would go the Magikarp just for the awesome power after evolution, but there are better pokemon if you can be bothered working for them

I got Magikarp to fill out my pokedex and for Gyarados, but after a while, I just found other pokemon to use instead. For example, in Yellow they gave me a Squirtle, so I used that as my primary water type. So no, I don't use a Magikarp throughout the whole game.

Well, I did get a magikarp for my Pokemon Diamond, but that was just so I can evolve it to a Gyaridos. It was really the only reason I would ever go looking for one.

The only games i used Magikarp on wast D&P, in the lake where you get the old rod lol... I made it a dragon, for fun really... It;s actually very good at ever stage!
As for that i only catch it when im collecting every single pokemon in game. I like to turn my PC boxes into a visual pokedex, all of the pokemon in number order... But can't do that in B&W!

That was the second generation if I remember correctly, you could go to the lake of rage and show him some magikarp and you get some stuff from him for showing large magikarp.
On topic: I sometimes get one for a gyarados. They can come in handy, but I usually switch over to a better water type when I get the chance.

I did get a lot of magikarp throughout the game so I caught one. But then, I caught a gyrados while fishing so I disowned the magikarp. By the way how do you use splash?

I got a magikarp the first couple times playing the Pokemon games, but I eventually got tired of training it. Still, when it evolves, it is really strong!

I use Gyarados, but never bought it in any game. To my young mind, it was a waste of money; spending 300 extra Pokebucks was impossible for me. I had to wait for the rod.
