It depend on the children and the game itself. For me, I used to play Doom when I was little and it didn't affect me a lot. I play M-rated game throughout my teenage year and it hasn't affect a lot. So therefore, Maybe some kid who play rated M game can have some problems. :focus:

Yes, videogames do, but usually the parents are at fault.

this does no teach children violence as it is all artificial but for some it can as some children can not tell between reality and fiction.

I think that bad people are going to play bad games, not good people being influenced the wrong way by bad games. Also if the person playing the game lets the game influence them then they will do things that they shouldn't. So if someone is ignorant enough to be influenced in that way then let them do things that they are going to regret later in life.

anything we do for a time has effects on our minds. its been debated for ages, but the simple truth is that no matter how much we want to defend the things we like(gaming, i love gaming, so this is hard), we cant ignore the truths. not just kids, but anyone who plays violent games for a time gets used to the violence. anyone with a brain should be able to admit that as a child, violence seemed really bad and scared us.what happens when we grow up? does the effect go away? it is still the same violence that made you feel that way, only now, your used to it. if you think about that(unbiased), its really kinda scary that the same violence is now ok. anyway, thats just my opinion. flamers and trolls beware, if this bothers you, there may be some truth to it, think about it?

OK, you might be done with your school assignment by now, but this is a hot topic even today so I wanted to reply.I chose the some games/some kids option because of course there will be some influence. But video games don't have a profound impact on our society in the violent way those damn Christian activists would like us to think. Society itself has the hardest impact on kids. The way they are raised determines their values, not how many people they kill in GTA. There is definitely influence, but not the kind that makes kids go out and have a shooting spree.

Well it wouldnt be all games necessarily. i mean i have no clue how a child could become violent by playing something such as tetris or maybe one of those CO rated games. But its understandable with some of the games coming out these days that if the kid does not have a firm grasp on things and cant distinguish what is real and what is fake, then it is possible (but wont always happen) that the child might take these game actions to the real world.

Sometimes I hear about kids doing the bad stuff from some games but really it is not their fault the parents who bought the game for them are at fault because there are buying rules now saying you can not buy a M rated games if you are not 17.

I think it's a neglegible effect. If they weren't playing video games, then they'd be watching tv or something, which *gasp* has violence as well.

Not all games, but some kids go nuts and imitate what they do on GTA.

now though i say that violent games do influence violence in children it is important to remember, the kinds of games that would do that, are not the games that children should be playing

Yes, but only children who can't tell reality from fiction.

That's what I voted.Video game companies don't deserve to take the piss for a child's poor judgement, and I believe that parents have to right to do that since it's their own child's fault if that occurs.
