well honestly there are some stupid people out there who actually believe everything in a game. There are also people who blame things on games. Games like sanandreas can be very bad and its not really the game, its the parent who lets the four year old play the game. A little kid like that grows up thinking bad thoughts and beliveing that you can run a car off right into a crowd of people, jump a fence into an air base and shoot everyones guts out, just to have fun in a copter, in which there will be no negative reactions. Even better, the parent may have a gun they leave stupidly in a childs reach where as the kid plays this game, thinks its fun and the only thing more fun is doing that in real life. Its not right. Now someone who grew up with good morals, playing games like earthbound and megaman, slowly advancing to bigger and badder games, can tell somewhere in their teen years that a game like that is obviously not something you would EVER want to actually do. In that sense it can be fun and or bad. Only those who impulsively don't think are really effected. It is trully meant for an older audience. If I offended anyone with this, I am sorry, but honestly, you better not be the one letting your four year old play this before shooting you with your own gun.

A game is a game. Really the only reason people play games is to do things you can't do in real life. Violence in games is what I think a way to absorb the primal bloodlust every human has, so I say no, in fact videogame violence could even be a good thing.

I think that video games are as dangerous as the people that play them - if someone is capable of using violent games as a source of influence then they are the dangerous ones not the video games. they have a choice they donot have to use the games and they dont have to follow the games.

I dont really think that video games promote violence unless the person is stupid enough to imitate what they see in the game.

I believe that games are incredibly violent, but I also believe that it's up to the parents to tell their kids that it's just a drawing -- This game is not reality. There's a difference between real people and a drawing (Say, Grand Theft Auto).

I voted yes to some games; I think (young) kids can easily get influenced playing violent games since they spend a lot of time playing it. It may not influence them at first; but later it may.

Hell... fraggin... no. I feel quite adament about this, if your going to blame video games for child violence, you might as well blame the automobile industry for drunk car accidents

It's not games that kill people. It's people that kill people. In other words, it's what the parent's teach their children or environmental factors that makes them into what they are. You think that your kid grew up to became a homocidal criminal because of playing mortal kombat or maybe he was abused in school or behind your back? Everyone blame the media which has bought more entertainment to the masses. It wasn't that long ago when rock and roll got the blame when it was still new.

Personally, I think the fault lies in the parents and not so much in the games. But to your question, I say only on childen that can't differentiate reality from fiction. Heck, I've been playing videogames since I was 2 (19 now) and I don't have killer urges or some other crazy stuff like tha-- Wait. Some guy I hate is crossing the street, let me go smack him with my bat like I learned...~*~Ok, back. Now, where was I? </sarcasm>Seriously. If you are affected by videogames in such a way like the one I wrote above (or worse, most probably worse), then I don't know what's wrong with you. I liked the way 689 puts it: "I feel quite adament about this, if your going to blame video games for child violence, you might as well blame the automobile industry for drunk car accidents."

I think it's more of an outside factor rather than an inside one that influence kids to use gun violence. Other countries that are poor can't afford video games and they still learn how to use guns...

Video game violence influences children some what, but only the really weak minded ones act it out. Most of the time, it's more the parents than the games. If the kid's father beats his mother, he will probably turn out to be a wife beater, too.EDIT: Games only reinforce what is already in the kid's head.
