games hardly ever make people violent. there are about 3 or 4 cases where people get violent and road rage and stuff from video games and you here about this on the news. then parents think that video games promote violence.

Yes, but only for children who can't tell what's real and what's not real. Obviously what the choice says.

They affect them no differently, or perhaps less, than watching violence on TV.Regardless of whether it does, the responsibility should be the parents'. If they don't approve of their kids playing the violent games, they shouldn't buy them!

It really depends on the person playing the game. Most people would't really be affected but there are probably a special few that do. But since it doesn't concern me I don't really care. :)

Maybe... but games don't do too much damage compared to everyday of our live, the news on T.V. and the US goverment (who loves cowardly violence more than anything).Anime, games, comic books, TV shows and people like me (a.k.a: Fighters) are just one more thing to be with, maybe we coperate to the violence, but we dom't care in realllity

I think all games have at least some violence in them, not always that noticable but its always there, take a look next time u play a game u think has none, youll be surprised, games wouldnt sell if they had no violence, i dont want to say that but its true, this day and age violence is everything. i mean it makes sense that they want to sell there games so they have to put it in.

I think it does in some cases. It really depends on the game and the child. My cousin for example who has been playing video games before he was even able to read has been influenced by the violence in some games but he shouldn't even be allowed to be playing the games he plays.

I think video game violence influencing people to hurt people, is just a myth, it's just a scapegoat for people who don't wanna take responcibility for their actions.

I've played a lot of violent games such as games from the Grand Theft Auto series and harming someone has never even crossed my mind.I believe that kids that harm people because of video games need to get checked out.

Only those who can't tell reality from fiction. anyone able to tell what's happening in the game is fiction won't be affected. plain and simple.

Sometimes they do. But mostly just to numb, not to want them to cause any violence.

The Facts are that Video games do and will affect all people that decide to pick up a controller (or keyboard) and play it. The question that a logical person should ask is how? Its true that it has many ups but it also has one big downfall. The main thing that I believe is that it effects is your state of mind. The state of mind of a person who plays games is not the same as someone who does not play games. The effect that it does can change the way a person thinks. Maybe not in all situations does a person will change noticibly but they will change in there state of mind. Our brain is nothing but a tool that we have. We can't control it, it absorbs all memory's that we have experianced. Soo lets say as an example you see someone dear to you die, you will remember it to some extent depending on what your brain can capt. Accompanied with music, videos, and certain situations that you face in your life, your brain can become corrupt. It does not think of what is real or what is fake. All is logical nothing is illogical. Its the same symptomes of someone who deals and sonsumes drugs. The effects are similar as well you become easely agressive. This agressitivity can be made worse from certain sources. Lets say your in social turmoil (disrespected, feels like they have no friends, etc..) you will want to find something to make yourself feel better. Although you may go to drugs or maybe games (the two most common scenarios) it will drematically change your state of mind. For the game makers themselves, what kind of a person does it take to make some game like that? A person that makes a game of that kind of callipur must have some problem with his mental state of mind.I would love to right more about it but I dont think there's any use. The facts are that it will change you. In what way its up to you. Choose correctly and you may be able to save yourselves from whatever wrong it will do to your brain. Life is interesting. As a 17 year old guy I admit to not having experianced everything or even much. I am not a pshychologist n'or do I have any experiance in the effects of the brain or cognitions.

of course viedo gmas caues violence!!!!!111 omg wtf lol avaryone knows taht adolf hitler spant 2 much tiem playng grand th3ft au2!11111!!1 lolSeriously, I don't think that polling people on a forum is the best source of information for research. Even if you could assume that video game players are an objective source of information, most of us don't have anything to guide our opinions but common sense. Nonetheless, here are my thoughts on the subject.Every generation needs something to blame for its problems. Twenty years ago, it was television. Forty years ago, it was rock and roll. Today, it's video games.A lot of fuss has been made over an alleged correlation between violent behavior and violent video games. But what we must remember is that correlation is not causation. Just because two things go together doesn't mean that one causes the other. Take, for example, the fact that ice cream consumption is highly correlated with incidence of drowning. Does this mean that ice cream somehow causes you to drown? No. The explanation is that both things occur during the summer.Similarly, I think it's more likely that children who have violent tendencies are more likely to enjoy violent games than nonviolent children. It's not that the games turn them violent; it's that their predilection for violence makes them seek out violent entertainment. To date there has been no study of sound methodology to demonstrate a causal link between violent entertainment and violent behavior.Yes, it is true that Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris of Columbine infamy played Doom. But for every person who plays a violent game and commits a violent act, there are thousands of people who play violent games but never engage in violent behavior. Violence has been a part of human nature for thousands of years before even the most primitive video game was invented.

I've been playing video games since the Atari days, and I've never gone out and killed anybody. I've never even gotten in a fight except for a couple times when somebody was beating up my little brother. Take the most controversial games on the market today such as Grand Theft Auto, and compare them to gorefests like Hostel and other movies being put out, and there is no comparison. The executives in Hollywood must be laughing their asses off.

Well Playstation 2 controllers do leave a nice little welt when thrown hard enough... but still that's about the extent of the violence that any videogame really leads to in real life. Regardless of the amount of violence in any video game, acts of violence are commited by one person to another... although if my cousin beats me in Live 07 tonight, someone might have to call 911 because there's a 'misunderstanding' about to take place.

I think it depends on the child and the game. Like if a kid plays a game and then trys to go shoot lightning at people there is an issue....

I think that some games may inflence some children, but most of the time we hear from parents that don't take care of their children properly, so they blame their childrens faults on violent video games. It was the same with games like 'Space Invaders', parents of children who spent all their time playing it whinged about how their children were going to become drug traffickers or pimps. It's the influence of the parents that changes childrens personalities, not violent video games.
