I believe this isnt the case just for children but teenagers and young adults aswell some people just shouldnt play video games full stop, just seems to bring out the worst in some people.

My little cousins are easily influenced by violence and sex they see on tv and they're not even 10 yet. It's so sad. It's part of their personality. I actually have to fight violence with violence when they think they're Goku from dbz. That's why I hate the show instead of just dislike it.

although I really don't care, yes, some games do influence children, but usually those children fail to see reality from fiction. also, parents' negligence may be involved in some cases

Man, some children are really disturbing, like on the news years ago a kid got a gun and shot his classmates or something like that, people blamed games but I blame parents and the kid's life. If ur so depressed that you wanna shoot ur classmates, you got issues. nothing to do with games.oh well, at least I won't be influenced by these games cause im not that stupid and desperate

i don't believe video games influence us at all. As a kid, i grew up watching older family-friends playing video games with a lot of blood and violence, but it never encouraged me to be violent. Its not really a matter of "does killing affect us", its more like a thought of "how much is a human life worth". If video games truly lead to a sense of napoleanism, then theres only violence in that, but otherwise, it doesn't affect us at all.

This question entirely depends on the kid. Nowadays tho, kids are more susceptible to violence.

It would be idiotic to deny that some video games have had some effect on some children, but are they all bad? Certainly not. In fact, some studies have showed that playing video games can help build hand-eye coordination, and I'm inclined to agree with those studies.

I don't think it really influences children. Video games didn't just come out of thin air for the sake of children so to speak. Games like Mortal Kombat and FPS come from our natural desire for violence itself. We as people seem to be drawn to violence whether we approve of it or not in some level. The News shows us violence so often it becomes so natural to react. Even so, violence, murder, rape, crime itself is -SO- -COMMON- we can make a hit TV series off it, and have several spin offs just as successful. Shows like CSI, NCSI, CSI:New York, CSI: MIAMI, LAW & ORDER, LAW & ORDER: Criminal Intent, LAW & ORDER: Speical Victims Unit. I apologise if mentioning TV shows is a bit off topic, but I feel its relavent since its both of the Media and Entertainment sort of thing. Violence is simply ingrained in both our history and our nature. Its because the violent survive, and the non-violent are killed by the violent. Not trying to ramble is I'm trying to state a case to defend my choice of it not influencing children that makes them violent. I am thinking more along the lines maybe it just brings it out more for us to see. Sometimes its more subtle though.

In my opinion if you let a game influence your actions, such as killing someone ... your have some serious issues. What you can do in a fake world created by video game and reality is a lot different.

I agree with that some games influence violence with children. Start with rating T (Teen) to M (Mature). Many parents won't allow their children playing game with that rating. Why? My little brother's right hand got shot from my dad's rifle!! :) This rifle is for my dad's hunting season. I was teaching children at Day Care Center last summer.

Yes, Games do have an effect on children. However, all kids should be exposed to this grade of violence(IMO, of course). If seen early, there might be a chance of catching what would be problematic behavioral problems.

I think there's some of 'em, like games which are "bloody" like Doom, or games with material arts... They are not suitable for children, as my opinion.

I say that whole videogames = violence in children thing is a load of bunk. It's just the next scapegoat in the series of objects society blames for its problems. Now, if the parents bother to instill a proper sense of ethics in children, they'd know the stuff in "violent" videogames is wrong, and not to be imitated, hm? TV, Comic Books, Videogames, society has blamed each and every one of these things for its problems; notice, though, that the problem never goes away, despite what they try to do. Gee, wonder why? Parents nowadays don't bother understanding and caring for their children enough, and instead choose to blame some object or other for their delinquency. Ha.

I think it does have an effect on how the child grows up, what they're interested in for instance. Not all video game influence is bad either, IMO. Think of games like Eco (it has /some/ violence in it), or Myst - these games could be quite helpful in developing a child's problem-solving skills. I have friends who are kind, philosophical and helpful (a bit too idealistic as well, I suppose...), and they love video games like Castlevania, FF and Devil May Cry etc.Besides, I reckon society and our family/peers are a worse influence. Most people who've committed suicide/homicide have, at one point in their life, suffered abuse from others. Or they could just be like that naturally. o____o

It really depends on how the child reacts to the game. If they don't agree with, or don't like the game, chances are, they won't try to replicate whats being done in it.

Games don't influence children and make them more violent. Case proven by the APA with definitive results. In anycase it isn't the fact that the game is violent it is the fact that children have been able to play games rated R and T when they should be getting E.In anycase it is the parents and store's fault because ESBR is not responsible for the games and merely rates them.Parents should realize the little letter is not for decoration.
