Games, like any other form of entertainment, only influence those with weak minds.

Ha. No. And yes, video games DO influence people, young people especially. Anyone who's taken a psych class could tell you that. The real question here is, should anyone do anything about it? In a perfect world, manufacturers would take some responsibility for a kid who carries out a copycat crime. But this doesn't mean the government should step in instead.

Anything you do influences you in some way, but in the case of whether or not it causes violence, only in children/people who are already disturbed. People have a problem identifying with the people who commit crimes and they always want to find a reason they did it. Blame it on parents, religion, society, tv, or games. The reality of the fact is you can't identify with most of them because they have serious mental instabilitys. Most of these people will have something that sets them off, a trigger if you will, but the trigger could have come from elsewhere. So a kid played GTA and then killed someone, he could have watched the news and decided to bomb a building. The idea, desire, or what have you will come from somewhere whether it be games, television, or their own little imaginations.

Video games should not and in my opinion does not influence children in any way. First of all it's not real. I can see if the mass populus of people in the world were doing the things you saw on GTA or thingz of that nature but since rarely that happenz and it's just a game...I would say it doesn't. Only either simple-minded, real gullible, or real young people would even have an ounc of influence and in that case that's where the parents are suppose to step in. Me...being 15, have never had to endure any kind of ratingz or anything lol me and my family just ignore them because their stupid...meaningless letters for half-life children...that's how I see it.

Personally, I dont think games promote violence in children. The only exceptions would be grand theft auto. I think you should be at least 18 to play that one. But all the other games are fine.

I think that only kids with real really bad mental problems (im not pinpointing any1down cause my cousin has mental problems) would play a game and then think its ok to do it in real life. Even so.... most of this violence is prompted from TV shows nowadays :hmmn:

Just like to say that it really isn't video games that are affecting children as much as their parents are. Parents these days let their kids get away with a lot of stuff and don't really take the time to be parents. The video games the parents use to buy their kids love often hurt the child in two ways. First children get soggy when all they do is play video games. Second video games are often seen as a way to baby sit children in the sense that while you still need a person there to watch the child, no real effort is needed. Honestly it wouldn't hurt if parents took the time to explain to kids what they are seeing isn't real and educate on them on real life and stuff. What i'm trying to say is that video games don't hurt kids, bad parenting does.

i don't think that violent games or movies cause violence .I have been playing violent games since wolfenstein and been watching violent movies for as long as i can remember, and NO game/movie has made me into a serial killer. But after hearin boy band/michael bolton few just aa few seconds it makes me want to go on a killing spree.

I don't think they influence any kids, maybe those who can't distinguish real from fake. I've played grand theft auto when I was six, my brother showed it to me, and I didnt turn out wrong. I sill feel sad when i see bombings, and there are alot of them where I live, so maybe not that much but still.

I think Grand Theft Auto have the biggest infulence for stupid kids who can tell the difference with reality and video games bad parenting also effect what the kids thinks when they play an extremely violence game that envolve killing

I think some games affect some kids only realy weak minded kids. And i also think its an excuse for politicans to look good(when they argue about what game is not good for kids etc).

Parents influence children, not media. While media can lead people to specific types of behavior, it is ultimately the parents that allow this to happen. Therefore I blame the parents :P

Yes, but only children who can't tell reality from fiction. It happened to my brother. My brother's friend kicked him in the mut everytime we went to his house, reason: because of King Of Fighters!!!

Only for children who can't tell fiction from reality. But it depends on the age of the kid too, cause some kid whatever they see they'll copy it...

I think it affects children who are in that situation with someone else..in GTA it's not likely your gonna be in Los angeles and the whole towns gonna be rioting and aload of Ballas are trying to kill you while your best mate is working in a drug factory....But if your a child and you really wanna kill someone, I think it gives them ideas. If they hadn't seen any violence at all they wouldn't have a clue about killing someone or hurting them.
