Video games are becoming more and more realistic these days. The graphics are improving rapidly, and they an be said to resemble real life situations. That may be one of the reasons why children/teenagers nowadays are becoming more and more violent. If the children play video games 24/7 and dont otherwise have a life, then of course it would affect them, as it depicts the way they see the world. Take Grand Theft Auto for an example. If a child stays at home all the time and does not go out and experience real life outside of his bedroom/lounge, then there is a real chance that he/she may turn out to be violent. My parents have friends whose son is only 6 years old. His parents had him in their middle ages, and i can safely say that he was a spoiled brat. When we went to their house, he had games on his computer like GTA San Andreas and CS Condition Zero. I just hope he learns that the violence he sees on his computer is not acceptable in real life.

in the off chance that a video game does affect a child...its the parents fault...neither TV nor Video Games should be used to babysit your kids...get off your lazies butts and do some parenting...

My 11 yr old plays all the War games and he doesn't want to go out and shoot someone in the head. Loves the sniper where he can zoom in.

No, they don't because video games are the only way they can get their anger out. They're not gonna run around the street with a rocket launcher.

I believe what kids watch or play they will tend to copy in real life so when a kid see something violent the will act on it

"A boy has the right to dream. There are endless possibilities stretched out before him. What awaits him down the path, he will then have to choose. The boy doesn't always know. At some point, the boy then becomes an adult, and learns what he was able to become. Joy and sadness forever will accompany this. He is confronted with a choice. When this happens, does he bid his past farewell in his heart? Once a boy becomes an adult, he can no longer go back to being a boy. The boy is now a man. Only one thing can be said. A boy has the right to dream. For those endless possibilities are stretched out before him. We must remember. All men were once boys."

The whole discussion going on with video game violence and how it affects us is bs. I was pissed when I heard most places were not going to have San Andreas on their shelves anymore. The game was rated M, and if that player isn't mature enough to play it then screw them. The problem is most people can't really get the fact that what their watching and playing is not real, and it's because of the people like that ruins it for the rest of us.

I don't really care, because there are to many factors that revolve around it. The kid could get nightmares from eating chocolate and plays a violent game that night. You can predict the results from that.

I think it depends on the kid who's playing the games. Anyone remember the Manhunt incident?

violent video games dont influence children. kids play kid games and if they get a hold of violent games and play them at home its the parents fault for not knowing what their kids are doing

No, not games. There is obviously one reason for each case, but look at me, I play GTA (even though I don't like it very much), I enjoy slaying monsters in RPGs... I love slaughtering things in DMC and enjoy the sight of blood in games......But I never hit someone in my entire life...Children (or boys) who are influenced by videogames' violence have already some mental problems by themselves... otherwise a simple logic reasoning would be enought to prevent such acts.

I agree. Itīs not the videogame that makes kids violent. Some kids are allready violent and the games might inspire them or make it worse, but the game isnīt the cause. Otherwise weīd be overrun by psychotic videogame killers by now ;)

i think the first thing a child should learn about gaming is that it's not real. BUT children will always want to hope that it's real and will imitate it in order to grasp the rush of gaming. they don't necessarily push it into violence like all out bloodshed and punching and stuff, but they will pretend to be their favorite characters and do the things they do in the game.

4th option.Seriously, do you think that if someone had common sense, they'd get reality confused with ficton? Only crazy people are influenced to violence by violent video games. (And not even ALL violent videogames can influence crazy people...)

i disagree with the majority votes. even children who can tell the difference between the realities are influenced by violence. This is mainly because they don't know enough yet. Ex: some kids will break the law and run from the police (try to in this case) because they've succeeded at doing so in lets say.. grand theft auto games lol. Sure they know the difference, but they lack the knowledge and/or experience? Either way, those people are STUPID.

honestly, a game is a game, people get influenced from others, and they are more effective than games, so its stuid that people complain about games soo much...

Getting influenced by a game is the same as being influenced by a movie. The only chance that you can get bad ideas is that you get confused between fact and fiction. In which case you were in trouble anyway.

Maybe, with a combination of real life experience, personal/emotional problems and of course music and movies.
