I just hate having friends with like 4 different Nintendo DS's! They've been buying the console since it first came out and they keep buying the newest one every time without selling it because apparently selling it is useless. Now i feel like the dumb one because i stay with the old DS until the new ones come out and buy a new one a year after they've hit the market. What do you think? Should i follow their ways or should i stick to my economic solution?

Honestly, I say just stick with what you do. What's the point of having 4 of the same handheld? I could see someone downgrading from a DSi to an older ds just so they can play some gba games and have that slot for the games that have bonuses when you play with a certain gba game also in, but why would you need that many unless you have other family members that like to play them as well.

New DS consoles are great to have around if you have several people in the household ... playing multiplayer games is great if you have young kids on a rainy day and you need more than one DS for that ... plus eventually all good things come to an end after a good drop or a spilled glass of water ... nice to have a replacement on hand at any given time. And by doing so you often get to upgrade the features that new DSs have to offer. I seem to buy a new one for my family on average every 9 months.

the one awesome use i can think of for owning two ds's is being able to trade pokemon with yourself for the 2 different versions and get a perfectly complete pokedex

I personally think it would be great to have more than one Nintendo DS because you could link with each DS and communicate and play alongside your friends!

I think it's useless to buy another DS unless the old one is not working properly. I still have the first type of DS and I don't plan to buy another one soon.

It could make sense to have 2. You're able to trade with yourself, and you have a spare if one ever breaks.

Having two NDS is personally the best option, trading between games by yourself is a lot easier then trying to find someone online who will hold your stuff for you while you do what ever your doing (restarting AC:WW town, Starting a new PKMN,DQM:J game)The resell value of the first DS isn't very much so if you don't already have one get one.

definitely depends on your point of view and cash situations. i've got several myself, but for multiple reasons. for one, i'm a console/handheld collector so i like having the various upgrades in my possession. now to step back a moment and dodge a bullet, i don't buy EVERY version. i mean, XL, really? bleh XP. and i won't buy multiple colors as well. but mostly having more than one makes it easier to take advantage of getting all i can out of a game that has wifi stuff. best example is the megaman games, since otherwise i'd be left missing a chunk of content that i paid for (no friends around with ds's and the games ^^; ) so in the end, it all depends on your situation ^^

I think its a waste of money. They should just buy a new game instead of buying a new DS. After all, its the same.

I don't see much point to having multiple DSes that are the same kind but in different colors... DS orig/lite and 3DS I could understand though

Unless if your old DS breaks or there are a bunch of games for a newer DS console (like 3DS), then maybe. But if its just to have the newest thing then you should save your money (or use that money to buy more DS games)

they are all the same pretty much except for the 3ds and the nds because they are two entirely different consoles

Since I don't like the idea very much, I can understand the concept of marketing of make us feel the urge to buy a new version, implying that the older one will be dumped since we don't have idea of what to do with it. Yet, just I said, I don't like this practice, so I myself have sold my own DS lately.

I personally would never buy more than one of the same gen of ds (ie two or more ds lites) but I'm actually saving for a 3ds and would never get rid of my ds lite partly bc of the memories and partly as a back up in case something happened to the 3ds and I had to get it fixed or something.
