I don't really know if the DS and the Dsi will disappear and I hope not. I've had the DS for about a half a decade now and I still think it's still exciting. But because of the 3DS, who needs a DS. Well, the 3DS does have twice the awesomeness, but will every thing in the future be portable? In 2012 Nintendo is making the WiiU which seems spectacular, but the main point here is will the future be all about portable gaming. My guess is yes, but who knows. :D

Probably not handheld. The future will probably be light and portable versions of consoles so you can easily set them up anywhere and play. Data plans will probably be incorporated somewhere as well.

It's really sad if NDS disappears...I love NDS very much. Maybe I love playing game that's cute. LOLActually, 3DS is better or NDS?I would say NDS... Maybe I should get a 3DS and try it. :D

Anyway I am not a fan at all of this new 3D hype. After a short while of whatching 3D, my eyes start hurting, so I prefer 2D.I guess I am not the only one who thinks this way and therefore I would not say that the 2D handhelds will be replaced by 3D models one day. There will always be a 2D version.

No. DS will not disappear. There will only be upgraded version of DS. Examples: 3DS, 4DS, etc...There will be many version of DS only. This kind of trend will continue.

I don't think they will some people still play much older systems. I still have my original NES and can still buy games for it.

I think the DS will hang around for a few more years, but something better is bound to surface.

I certainly hope not. But it's likely even if the NDS itself gets phased out, Nintendo would probably port the various games over (or hopefully, make the old cartridges portable) In terms of handheld gaming... that's probably not going to go anywhere anytime soon

the ds won't disappear now because there were a past as the ds that the 3ds live as the ancesters we can't split in it's face as a respect it should always live and think about that new model new price everything has a price it should be make for everyone to be able to buy!

Seems games are still being made for DS and most especially Dsi so I can't see the handheld phasing out anytime soon. Especially considering how the 3DS isn't selling nearly as much as Nintendo had hoped so it's not like the previous system can be phased out completely at this point.

I hope the DS Lite will stay in production for a while. I'm really not a fan of the DSi or the x-large version or even the 3ds. At this stage the 3D still hurts my eyes but I do like the glasses free approach especially since I wear glasses.

Bad news on that front, they've discontinued the production of the dslite since a month or so. Which means that shops now only carry their own stocks and that the original dslite gets harder to find.

I really hope it won't. Good thing that up until now, there are still games coming out for a DS even if the 3DS is already out.

i think so but not soon. some people had invested in one of the new DSs (DSi or the big DS) right before the 3DS came out so theyd be pissed if all of the sudden nintendo stopped making regular DS games. i think the 3DS will fail cuz once people get past the 3D part (depending on what nintendo does with it) its just a regular DS. hopefully they dont try to force 3D stuff down your throat with futre games like how they try to force DS gimmick stuff and wii stuff

It wont disappear the ds propably games will released with the 3ds games. Nintendo DS has already 3 versions and one amazing Nintendo 3DS seriesNintendo company is planning to put on the markets this gaming tablet. http://media.photobu...pt-2011-445.png If you need more information please tell me

I don't think it will ever completely disappear, as someone said earlier that all the future generation consoles will just be lighter and higher-powered versions of the previous. However, that said, it may be possible that one day it could very well disappear, as future consoles replace it. It's kinda sad, but then the NDS would become retro. I mean, who still owns their first-gen GameBoy? I know I still do!I have a 3DS now, but that doesn't mean I don't play my original DS. In fact, I play it more regularly than my 3DS! So I think the DS will stick around, as long as it remains someone's favourite portable console.

To me, the graphics on the 3DS are quite good (Dependent on the game, but for the most part; on par with a medium quality Xbox 360 or PS3 game). However, for most, if not all of the 3ds games that are currently out, the "3D" aspect seems to be a gimmick that doesn't contribute to gameplay. So to answer the question, I think the DS will die once the 3DS gets a good library of games that utilize the 3D aspect of the 3DS.

At least not for awhile. The 3DS doesn't provide much to overshadow the DS yet.

I agree there are thousands if not millions of people who still play outdated and older systems...I am one of them :s
