Has anyone tried any games with the WIndows 8 preview? If so, have you run into any compatability issues? I'm particularly interested in older games that had to be run in compatability mode in Windows 7.

I've ran a few tests of Windows 8 using the earlier build, the Developer Preview, and they worked the same.Though now, the Consume Preview version is out, and I haven't looked up what the changes are.I will hopefully get around at testing it soon.

The default Metro UI of Windows 8 was designed for tablets, but incorporates many functions of a regular Windows.A big hint is that the new Windows account requires you to sign in to your Windows Live account, a little bit like how Android OS requires you to sign in to your Google account to access more features.Simply to set a uniform user interface, but you are always welcome to set it back to the old Windows look.IE10 is optimized for touch screens also, so expect a lot of getting used to.Some already done hands on preview:http://www.techradar.com/news/software/operating-systems/hands-on-windows-8-review-1025259

I saw windows 8 on sunday...It was crap, i had no clue what i was doing, i felt like i needed a touch screen or tablet pc to use it, i hate how you have to drag and toss the screens to close them, and the set-up was just annoying with the use of a mouse.Personally i hated it, and if Microsoft goes i nto just making tablet PC's im going to... hell i dont know what im going to do. IDK i just wouldnt like it at all...its like they got rid of the task bar, the desktop, and they created a menu for everything that was just tiled panels and stuff...i didnt even try microsoft office or IE on it, i just plainly disliked the darned thing...

Erm, the whole concept of the Metro UI was made for tablets...Microsoft has a vision of unifying desktop and tablet operating systems as one, making every cross platform compatible. That being said, Windows 8 is a concept in an attempt to let tablet users be able to use Windows programs without needing a "tablet version".Also, the Metro UI can be disabled and you can work with the original Windows 7 UI with the standard Start Menu and everything. If you didn't notice, even on the Linux side they are converging to the same ideas.A complete overhaul of interface to unify all components as one. The changes might piss off people at first, but once they get used to it, it's smooth sailing.Best notable example is the jump between Microsoft Office 2003 to 2007, the classic File/Edit menus to the new ribbons.Almost everyone I knew said they hated it. After I demoed how to use the application properly and how it takes half the clicks to do the same operations compared to before, they liked it.
