My regular DS, whose L button doesn't work anymore, is blue on the top-screen area and black on the main piece. My 3DS is a blue Fire Emblem: Awakening version. It's just a regular 3DS. My friend has a 3DSXL. He gave his old 3DS to the other friend in our trio. We're basically a Getter team: I'm the leader, the 3DSXL guy is the fat one, and the other one is the tall skinny quiet guy. Well, we're not batshit insane, so we'd probably make a crappy Getter team. *laughs*

My DS is a fat blue DS. I also have a blue 3dsxl. I wanted a black one, but ended up getting the blue one a week before the black one came out in a sale.

My regular DS is grey. My 3ds xl is pink with a shiny purple metallic coating around it.

I've got an original DS in Cosmo Black. At the time I got it the 3DSXL was already out, but I didn't really feel the need to spend a bunch of extra cash for a slightly less portable 3DS with a larger screen. It looks nice, but I'm fine with the original.

My DSi is just plain, boring black. But the Zelda themed 3DS they coming out with for A Link Between Worlds is gorgeous. I may have to upgrade just for it.

Apple red, right, the special edition Mario stylized version. The Mario mark slowly fades away, then you get left with an apple red, Mario dissociate version afterwards.
I have the same one! I kept mine in a clear case so the logo won't fade.

I'm getting a Japanese 3DS for Christmas so I can play Super Robot Wars UX (and possibly Dragon Quest 7 if that doesn't come out here), and it's going to be Cosmo Black. This way, I can tell it apart from my regular US region 3DS. Yeah, I'm a little crazy. I want to play UX SO BADLY.
