Oh and surprisingly enough, skyrim can be rather scary... when you're travelling at night and a red skull appears on your compass from a distance and you don't know whether it's a skeever or an elder dragon lol

The Dead Space series seems to be a lead contender for me. Not sure why but Resident Evil doesn't seem to cut it.
Silent hill is cool too...

The scariest game I think I had ever played was the first Resident Evil. My buddy and I would spend all day and night playing that thing just waiting to see what would scare us next. Also, Dead Space is really well produced in that genre.

I'm not a guy easily scared by stuff in any media, outside from the scenes specifically made to cause you to jump in surprise. However, games that make a point to put you against the entire world with no backup unnerve me. Things like Resident Evil 4 and Metroid. While I can go through them, I still feel uneasy, specially on the more darker areas.

I got startled several times while I was playing Marvel Nemisis: Rise if the Imperfects, but that was the closest a game has gotten to scaring me.
I'm not crazy, I'm Insane.
I'm not a freak, I'm Weird.
I'm not dumb, I'm Mental.
I'm not creepy, I'm Unnerving.
I'm locked inside my own mind....

Try playing Amnesia the Dark Descent at night with headphones on... It is pretty bad, you always feel like monsters are around the corner even though they are not, and it gets really dark to where you can see but not make out figures in the background. Then a door might burst open, or you might hear children screaming/laughing in the background. It just messes with you. BUT, it is a great game and worth playing.
Slender: The Eight pages is a game you can download for free, you just walk around in these very dark woods and collect pages, but that can get scary too. It is more of a jump scare compared to Amnesia which just tries to mess with your mind. Both are really fun to play with friends.

The first time I entered the forest temple in The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time; the music sent chills down my spine. (now I love the music there.)
Even though I absolutely loved Lavender town & it's music in Pokémon Red, Blue & Yellow ever since I was 7.
(I first played them at age 7)

Not really. I mean, Halo is a little disturbing, but that's why I stick with mario kart and cooking mama. ![]()

Yes. The first ever doom scared the living hell out of me. Especially the sounds the creatures made.

I played a couple of games that were pretty scary for me when I was younger. Resident Evil 1 on the GC, RE:2 and RE:4. Some what of the first Dead Space was scary.
