With my recent acquisition of Installshield Admin Studio 9, I am now able to undertake repackaging projects of classic games. So with this, I've decided to redo a classic game I loved back when I was young. The installer from the original disc does not work on 64-bit systems, and workarounds proposed on the Internet were a burden to follow.
Instead, I have decided to created this new installer that will install Star Wars Rogue Squadron 3D v1.3 without any hassle on computers running Windows XP. Vista, 7, or 8, 32-bit and 64-bit editions.

This release contains the scans of the original jewel case covers and disc so that you can print them.

Installation and compatibility notes:
- Rogue Squadron 3D is only known to function on ATI Radeon video cards. For nVidia users, unfortunately, you won't be able to run this game at all.
- For people that have a game freeze issue at the profile creation screen, you can download and apply the "Player Profile Hotfix". WARNING: If you already started a game, the hotfix will overwrite your saved data. Please make sure to backup your save files before applying the hotfix!

Hey, it wasn't easy to find a copy of Admin Studio.It`s a software that costs 5k USD per license, and it is only used by application developers and software packagers.Not as easy to find as Installshield Premium since that costs about 500 USD per license, so it's much more accessible.I just happened to stumble upon aversion that works, so I'm undertaking these kind of projects.I already have a few next projects in mind, though those won't be as easy to do as this one.@Channel: I wouldn't exactly call my other projects useless if Touhou Project and Melty Blood by themselves yielded almost 4k views on DGEmu alone. You're simply not into shmups and fighting games.

Hmmm, I used this to install on two systems a laptop and desktop, on both the games seems to load fine, plays the opening intro then the screen goes black and nothing more?Systems used:1. Laptop, AMD CPU, x1200 mobile GPU windows 7 32bit 4GB ram2. Desktop Intel CPU E6750, 8800GT GPU, Windows 7 65bit, 4gb ram,I tried both the normal and fail safe executable, not sure what is wrong....You can hear the music playing on but no display.

Heya, I've update the first post with a quick FAQ of common problems and steps to take to fix it.Remember, the purpose of this package is to install the game much more easily on a new computer without doing all the install, copy this file, patch that file, etc.All the known bugs that Rogue Squadron 3D has on new systems can still occur.

While I certainly appreciate that it is meaningless if in the end I cannot play the game on either of my two computers. I will check your faqs and try again.....UPDATE: Well partial results I guess, using the suggested settings in compatibility mode on my AMD laptop with x1200 mobile graphics I actually got to the screen to enter my name, thought I had a chance here but my keyboard input was not up to it, ...after added Windows98/ME to compatibility options I got to the same screen but speed slowed to a crawl. On my Desktop Intel CPU 8800GT Nvidia nothing would help and black screen after intro continued. Well seems I will be uninstalling form both lol! IF ANYONE HAS BETTER SUCCESSFUL PLEASE POST otherwise this game on PC for me might require DOSbox or some suggest trying older video card drivers but I cannot be bothered for one single old game, besides I can just as well fire up Nintendo GameCube—Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader and Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike lol.Ah well, not meant to be, THANKS FOR YOUR EFFORTS THOUGH!

It's an iso file.You either:- mount it with Virtual Clone Drive or Daemon Tools- copy it onto a CD@OldSchoolGamer: On your laptop, the main screen should run at crawling speed, but in-game should be fine onwards.For my tests, all my physical computers are running Windows 7 64-bit.I have many virtual environments under VMware Workstation 8: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.Those are basically all setup to do my testing so that in case I mess up something, I can rollback with a snapshot within 5 minutes.And the game actually runs fine under all those environments.Might I suggest getting Oracle VirtualBox and load Windows XP on it. You should be able to get your game running like that.

After the success of the repack of this one, I have a multitude of projects for the future.I'm actually working behind the scene right now on getting "Star Wars Episode I Battle for Naboo" up, basically a game very close to Rogue Squadron 3D, but not necessarily as epic.I also have 2 more projects in mind: Star Wars Episode I Racer and Diablo II Lord of Destruction 1.12A (Battle.net release, not the CD based release)

meru its not working, I installed it correctly, and when i start it up it takes me to the create user screen, and then it says to type a name and hit enter to accept or hit esc to exit. it lets me move the insertion point on the menu but not anything else, its like i cant type a name, hit enter or even escape!

Well, one thing's for sure:

If you have an nVidia based video card, then you're completely out of luck.
Seeing the age of this game and the evolution of video card drivers, nVidia drivers does not like Rogue Squadron at all.
What you usually get is the opening scene, followed by a wonderful black screen with music playing.

You'll have much better luck with ATI cards (Tested on 2 computers here, one running a CrossfireX of 2x HD6970, the other one running a HD4870X2)

I might as well create an update fix to that package with that said profile to help people some more.

You might encounter an issue with the default flight camera where your ship will completely fly out of range of the camera...
To fix it, simply change the camera position to be directly on the tail of your ship or cockpit mode.
