Hi all, I'm trying to download all the Final Fantasy game series for my Game Boy Emulator. I in fact haven't played them before. So I was just wondering, how come there's no Final Fantasy III for Game Boy Advanced, but there's an IV? Can someone enlighten me on this?

From what I understand the Final Fantasy games on GBA are ports of the versions made for Wonderswan. The Final Fantasy 3 game for Wonderswan was cancelled (I believe because of the failure of the system) and therefore could not be ported.

It would seem so, though I'm not sure why four came out first. Just a development thing. The team for four got it finished quicker.

Actually, what we know, now, as FFVI, was originally III when it came out. However, for some reason, they changed it and made FFIII for NDS. Oh well, they are both really fun....

I will begin an attempt at explaining that statement. Final Fantasy III is NOT IV (or is it VI), neither is it disguied as IV (or is it VI).
FFIII is the only FFIII game released in europe and it's only for the DS.
A history lesson
V has the value of 5, or five, I has the value of 1, or one...
If you put an I before a V it becomes four, or 4, IV.
If you put it after, it becomes VI, or six, or 6.

actually I'm not sure due to Japanese songs sometimes being unrecognisable

Square Enix has released Final Fantasy 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6.. but not entirely sure why 3 was not ported as well
