In my own opinion Halo takes the cake but the call of duty series is right there with it

Portal, Portal 2, (Super) Scribblenauts, Warcraft III... there are tons!
It's hard to decide. Civ III and Civ IV are good candidates too.

id say the best series to come out would be the mass effect series

Really a tough decision.
The PS2 era had awesome games, and to me they were the Ratchet & Clank and Dark Cloud series. With all these consoles, and the past ten years is quite broad with some great games, there's just too many to list (and I'm being lazy, haha).

I feel, since we're talking about series in general, assassins creed should be somewhere up near the top. It has grown a very large amount since the original game and is now coming onto its 5 this year!

Out of all the games to have come out in the last 10 years, I have found the hack and slash style RPG games to be the most addicitve for me. Inspired by games like Diablo, Diablo II and early installments in the Forgotten Realms series for the PC, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance was the first one to come out for a last-gen console just slightly over 10 years ago and it really set the stage for all of the games and series that followed. Before this game, the visuals were never as detailed. The story was never narrated so well. It simplified the style of gameplay to make it easier for console gamers to pick up and play. It is one of my personal favorites and I don't know how many times I have completed it.
Other great games that followed were Champions of Norrath, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II, Champions: Return to Arms, Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade, Untold Legends: The Warrior's Code, X-Men Legends, X-Men Legends II, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, and more recently Dungeon Hunter: Alliance. All these great fun games and some of the less popular ones owe it to Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance for allowing them to exist as they do.

God of War Series is surely a contender here...... That and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare(s), ( I never cared for Black Ops).

the best game for multiplayer is Counterstrike -- they need to update this as fast as possible.
