I'm playing Crisis Core and Ifrit comes along. Technically I've chosen to take hojo's labatory mission. Ifrit does his special hellfire attack and the screen turns into active freeze. I hear sound and Ifrit is moving but the screen is stuck in that spot; It's frozen.

What can I do?

I've tried

  • I played the US and EU versions. Both have the same problem.
  • Defeating Ifrit before his hellfire attack will bypass the problem, but it's not easy.

PSP firmware

  • 6.20 PRO B10 Permenant

actually I'm not sure due to Japanese songs sometimes being unrecognisable

this one happens to be one of them songs (blocked why'd no one tell me?) here's a new song

New, clean version fixed the freezing. Third time lucky I guess.

It's Sephiroth! His aura caused the freeze. Lucky's right ;)

Nope. I'm certain it was Ifrit's special Hellfire. It's a convenient freeze because the freeze occurs early in the game. Were it to happen deeper in the game I would've given up, because saves from one game or region aren't accepted into another.

Haha I was just kidding around. I just freakin' love Sephiroth and loved the way he just one slashed Ifrit when Zack was having so much trouble.

Eh wait, defeating Ifrit before the Hellfire? I'm pretty sure Sephiroth's entrance was required or did I misunderstand you?

How far are you in the game by the way? Been years since I played it.

I think you're remembering the battle with the beast in the first, virtual mission. It ends with Sephiroth trying to kill Zack. Angeal intervenes in the nick of time and aborts the mission.

The battle with Ifrit happens in the mission to Wutai. Angeal says he'll stay behind and hold off the Wutai soldiers while Lazard and the others escape. It's available as an extra mission from Hojo accessible by standing in front of a save point and selecting mission from the menu.

I'm pretty far in the game. I don't know how far exactly. Final Fantasy games tend to expand from a point onward. Zack's partnered up with Sephiroth and they're search one of the sectors.

I was referring to this ->

Now I feel like playing FF:CC again. Sephiroth entered after the Hellfire. =)

I don't remember much of the first mission though. From memory, Sephiroth intimidated Zack then, or something like that.

Other than Crisis Core, have you played any of the FFVII games?

I totally forgot Sephiroth saves Zack out at Mt. Tamblin. I remember it as Zack single handedly defeat Ifrit. My memory is still recovering.

I have played finalfantasyVII. It was emulated and my computer couldn't keep up so I reluctantly left it alone. Not too long time ago I decided to deleted some stuff I wouldn't be playing anymore, that included a playstation emulator, finalfantasyVII and some stuff.

Seriously? I played that with an emulator as well in a Pentium III, over 10 years ago. Bad emulator perhaps, OR you have a really old PC?

Yep. Played it on an Athlon 64 X2 TK-55. It's not so old. The OS, Windows7, is hogging a lot of the resources.

I hardly know anything about AMD processors, sorry, but why would you install Windows 7 on an old PC?

My computer had Windows Vista preinstalled. That was later upgraded to Windows7. Anything less or else makes the drivers incompatible.

in finding it the game...

English isn't the easiest language to learn. Maybe, a little maybe, DG should adopt a world language like Esperanto, or something a little easier. Toki pona is really simple.

This (toki pona) is the first I heard of, thanks for sharing. I agree about English not being the easiest language to learn, let alone understand, for non-native English speaker. I've known and seen many people struggling with the language.

Any language, even the easiest, will take a very long time to learn. That's also depending how much of the language is similar to one's native language.
An example is if you ask a native Japanese speaker to learn Mandarin, s/he can learn it a lot faster than an English native speaker due to the similarity in both the languages' context, structure and all that.

In short:

- Any language = Takes a long time to learn

- Native Mandarin speaker: Difficult in learning English; Much easier to learn Japanese

What's your native language, by the way?

For as long as I can remember I've been speaking English. I mostly speak and write in English so you could say English is my native language.
