If microsoft is somehow in the running, then I believe that Nintendo still has a great chance at overpowering them. Besides, as long as Xbox doesnt have japanese gaming, it'll never live up to the other systems.

I'd have to say yes, on many reasons.1. Sony and nintendo are competing for the Japanese market. Compared to the XBOX, like 10 times more PS2s (and even Gamecubes) were sold in Japan.2. The Revolution is shaping up really nicely. Although the Gamecube doesn't stack up technically to the xbox or ps2, it still was a good system people wanted.3. The first party aspects of nintendo are unbeatable. The very fact that Mario, Link, Donkey Kong, etc are exclusive to nintendo is enough for some to get it.4. It's backwards compatible, man!But where the Revolution might fail is the online play. XBOX does a great job of supporting its online community, and the PS2 has a small, but working online. The gamecube had... Phantasy Star Online...That sums it up for me.

I think Nintendo will stand a very good chance with the Revolution. I'm sure that they will survive through the next generation of consoles, and if there online functions are as good as Nintendo say, it should be a very good time for Nintendo.

Gotta disagree on two points you made. How is PS2 technically superior to Gamecube? The Gamecube is way faster and has far superior graphical capabilities. Saving and loading to/from memory cards is nigh on instantaneous. The ONLY place it falls down with the other two technically is dvd playback (as in it has none). This doesn't bother me cause it's a GAMES machine. I view the dvd function on PS2 as more of a novelty than a reason to buy. The playstation is by far the weakest technically of the three consoles (fact).Online play.... Nintendo are pushing towards this very aggressively and have stated that one of their main goals is to really push and develop their online play for DS and Revolution. It's under control. One thing that worries me a bit is that they're apparently not gonna concentrate on graphics too much and keep there focus squarely on great games. I'm sure they'll still look amazing, but if the other two surpass it graphically... well, you know how casual gamers whose first console was a PS1 or 2 are... shallow. There's a fair bit of speculation that Nintendo is gonna employ some sort of 3D system in the Revolution. You're guess is as good as mine how this'll be utilized, but I can't wait to see.I'm just hoping the Revolution will be completely different from what we've seen before and I wouldn't be completly against it leaving the other two for dust. :P

They might have a chance...a slim one. First they need to chage their ways. First party games are good, but you must have plenty of third party games. The reason xbox isn't doing so great is it was the last system released there and they are gaining Japanese support for the next xbox. Nintendo needs to stop worrying about making media that is hard to copy and make it easier on developers (anyone want a 1.5gig tiny disk over a 7gig dvd?) I know they are focused on being strickly gaming, but is a decent online system or dvd playback that bad of a thing? Since I don't own a dvd player and don't own any quality online comp. games, those are both really important factors in my choice. Also, (im gonna get flamed for this) it wouldn't hurt to make a few more adult oriented games. Sure Gamecube has Resident Evil and such, but those aren't Nintendo games and Nintendo could really benefit by making a few teenager or adult first party games. Forget about things such as connectivity cause nobody wants to pay for everything $300 system, $150 handheld, console game $50, handheld game $30, link cable $10-thats $540 to play one game with a handheld out of the choice of like 5 quality games that actually support it. Don't say its an added bonus either since some games like Pac Man Vs. require the link. I think creativity doesn't necessarily make quality (is using a touch screen that feels akward sometimes better than having unbeatable graphics? I think not) I'm done ranting now. :P

It will "theoretically" use wireless technology. It isn't out yet so no-one knows. Anyhow I didn't mean linking two Revolution systems I meant Gameboy-Revolution or DS-Revolution depending on if the new gameboy is out or if its still the DS.

No... It will "actually" be using wireless technology."We intend to incorporate wireless technology in all we do," Iwata announced at the event. "Therefore, Nintendo Revolution will be Wi-Fi enabled, built into every system."Source: http://cube.ign.com/...2/522559p1.htmlNintendo intend to have the Revolution AND DS use wireless technology.Furthermore, Nintendo are going to have Revolution be able to connect to the internet through wireless capabilities... FREE OF CHARGE!!!

Let me tell you, Nintendo INTENDED to put DVD playback in the gamecube and it didn't happen. Nintendo INTENDED to have a quality online service. Who cares connecting to the net is free of charge? Sega did it first six years ago so its old news. Besides, there is no wireless net in my town so it is useless to me. If in fact it is wireless the same as the DS and they do manage to make them connect together to act as a controller or something, good for them but I won't buy it. Put resources into more useful things such as recruiting third party developers.

There's a bit on that link I gave about Nintendo building relations with 3rd party developers so I'm not gonna worry bout that too much. When Sega did it, internet was nowhere near the stage it's at now and that was destined to fail. Nowadays, online gaming is a must and it's FACT that Wi-Fi technology will be built in. It's not a possibility or an after thought, it's a major part of their new mindset.

I gotta say no.. due to some experiences and things i've seen bout Nintendo..Sony has dominated in evry category as soon as ps2 came out.. theres profits went sky high.. and for those who thought gamecube was good and bought, later on decided to get ps2 and for tht no matter how much Nintendo changes I DOUBT many ppl will go back to it :P

I'm too tired to say anything.Iwata did say they are having wireless internet and there using something like Cell Sites (Cell sites are where you phone gets sevice, like 1 every block) but if it spans world wide then i'll Shyte in my pants and die. :P i'm interested at what PS3 will have..i wonder what thier gonna do with all that space with thier Blu-Ray disks.

instead of posting a bunch of stuff that will pawn everyone, i'm just gonna say thisNintendo makes profit on it's hardware. The GC is making them moeny, not as much as the gbs, but it's till money. Only hardware maker to pull a profit every quarter this gen. Seriously, crazier things have happened, liek the ps1 taking the world by storm and the xbox being succesful

True. And who knows... Nintendo might actually live up to their promise of 'changing the way games are played for ever' and make every kid ask mommy to buy them a Revolution. Seriously, thats a bold statement and they seem a bit too confident for it to be just another gimmick.Of course I might be being overly optimistic, but it'd be cool if I'm not...

I think nintendo will live on as long as they have their trademark charactersand continue to make good games unlike their competitors that only have a fewmust have games. The revolution will be a big hit with nintendo fans and hopefully non fans as well.

I think nintendo will do good with the revolution. B) I heard that the revolution will have free online play.So if nintendo is the only one who offer free online, nintendo will have a great advantage on this side. And nintendo said that their launch title will have many good game.(zelda, mairo, super smash...)

Yes. Of course. Some games really suck for XBOX and PS2, and some do on Gamecube. Each company has its strong suits. But in the future, Nintendo's Revolution will blow the competition out of the water!
