You've essentially described it, I loved the 9999pt Geno Whirl trick... (Which was mediocre since it couldn't be used against bosses...) and it required such precise timing... It was a great game!!!

omg,i did that like..once.never timed it right again.-_-but when i did do it,i was like "^_^"

One of my most loved RPGs of the Super Nintendo right next to Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI. I'd like to see a true sequel, not just some Paper Mario spin-off series...I'm talking about Square-Enix and Nintendo joining forces one last time for an epic RPG.

:D i like your idea...that'd be so awesome!>_< and the way things are now,it really would be epic.:D

One reason is that another game-chrono trigger came out, but in large fact it was that the ps1 was becoming popular and everyone was geared up for the N64, had Mario Rpg hit the market earlier it would be wider known. Had it hit later for the 64 (not paper mario) it would have become a household name with the release of ff7 making everyone wanting to play rpgs, specially on the 64 which had very few rpgs.

why does it seem barely anybody's beat it? It's not that hard. I beat it when i was 8. Anyway, this game is a classic and i like the ode to FF4 with the battle with Culex. (notice the battle music-boss music from ff4). Paper Mario ruined the Mario Rpg. When Paper Mario was first going to come out it was going to be huge...then we realized...its not Mario Rpg at all. They should have a true follow up on the DS though. If not hopefully i can download onto a Wii.o.O

I really wasnt too big a fan of Mario RPG. I think it was just the way the graphics were setup, along with the combat settings, but for some reason, it wasnt my thing. Mario should stick to GoKart racing IMHO, because Super Mario Kart = Best SNES game ever.

I loved this game as a kid. I'm trying to get back to where I was using the magic of emulators. I think not many people don't know about this game, probably because not many people trusted this pair up with Nintendo and Square but it definitely worked out good. Check this game out people its well worth it.

i grew up with this game, and although i still think it's great, it has plenty of flaws, and seeing as how i've beaten it about 50 times, i can complete it in 1 day, and i mean fully complete, with all characters at lv.30, all hidden boxes and items.all i have to say to people who havent played it is that its a really good game, UNLESS you are someone whos played just about every other rpg out there, if you're one of those people, smrpg is going to be bad for you

It's GREAT! I love this game! :D It was Mario meets Final Fantasy. It was wonderful, and I LOVED Bowser in this game. They actually gave him a personality! That impressed me.

maybe cuz it was kinda untraditional and people didnt trust it then. Just a guess though.

Yes, I agree. It was one of my favorites as well, and i think that Chrono did it some harm. But I still love 'em both just the same.

Hardly anyone knew this cause the gimmick of mario in an RPG game is just not the "IN" thing then (RPG was hardly that known before... final fantasy 7 "pfft"). Everything about that game is really innovative and the next best thing in RPGs: interactive battles, where you hit the right button to unleash extra damage on enemies. And heck, right out from final fantasy, you battle a hidden boss that has the music from past final fantasy games.

I thought that it was SO awesome! Peach actually got to fight! Geno (even though he's Square Enix's property) was pretty awesome too. Yanno, I wonder why they didn't do a remake of that on the GBA... that would have been cool.

The SNES was already on its way out when SMRPG came out. It had some ok advertising, but not enough to salvage any major sales. Everyone was already leaning toward the N64.But yea, SMRPG is a pretty cool game. I still play it a lot... the lvl 3 challenge is always fun to try now and then.

I liked Super Mario RPG's story, but the battle system was a little to rigid, and the battle theme music REALLY got drilled painfully into my brain during the end of the game.
