My buddy got one when they were clearing the inventory out of walmart a few years ago and got a new one for $80. It was cool, but definitley very very glitchy. Lots of freezing and long load times. Pretty much the coolest part was you could download and burn games from the internet and play them without any modifications or chips to the DC.Soul Clibur rocked though....

:P Have it!? Play it!? This system rocked!! I remember so much so, that I bought the gosh darn import of the system 6 months before came out to the states just to play MVSC at home. :P (and to make my friends jealous nonetheless^_^)Oh and yes there is a browser for it. Whats wierd is that with the Japanese dreamcast it didn't come with a modem. The domestic models did however, with the broswer as well.

Agreed. definitely a great system. had so much promise, but all the idiots see Sony and say ooooooh look at that overpriced overhyped system thats supposed to have better graphics and do so much more, and yet, does little more than the dreamcast. yep lets buy it.I still have my dreamcast, and heres something funny, one of my neighbors got the ps2 when it came out. had 4 games for it. after about two days, we all just left the ps2 and went back to playing quake 3 and UT on my dreamcast.I realy wish sega didnt stop making systems.

I think the sega dreamcast was a failure, and when I say that, I don't mean I don't like it, I mean it didn't get the attention it needed. I'm pretty sure that it was the first to introduce online hook-up, and the second in 4 input slots for controllers. Although I really really disliked the controllers, they hurt my hands, plus I never really got used to them, and through the viscious beatings I took on Marvel Vs. Capcom from my cousin, I had a psychological classical condition of disliking the Dreamcast.

I still have it and love it. I loved the Time Stalkers (or whatever it was a rpg), the Marvel Vs. Capcom 1 and 2 (sweetest fighting games ever!!!), and Grandia II was a decent rpg.

I still have my Dreamcast and I still love it with a passion (way more than My PS2), It had a small quantity of very, very good games Soul Calibur was more of a landmark than Soul Calibur 2 is, Shenmu Rocks, Metropolis Street Racer (prototype for Project Gotham on X-Box) was brilliant, Powerstone 1/2 both awesome (1 was better though), Jet set Radio, Virtua Tennis 1/2, Skies of Arcadia (one of My favourite RPG's), Grandia 2 is fantastic, Phantasy Star Online (My friend actually wore out his disc due to using it too much, I kid you not), Sonic Adventure 1/2 were both great and both Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1/2 appeared in greatly cleaned up versions (compared to the PS1 versions) and were stunningly good.I'm currently trying to find some Dreamcast Iso's and a Bios so I can use My Dreamcast Emulator, Thats how much I love Dreamcast.

DreamCast was one of the best systems ever made, IMHO. It was the first of a generation of consoles that includes the PS2, XBox and GameCube. DC was (and is) known for quality arcade-style games and fluid graphics. I love DC games, because most of them have an "Arcade Mode" you can play anytime. Load times were extremely fast and the graphics are just a little below what you'd expect on a PS2 or GameCube, depending on the game. What I really love about the DC is all the innovative extras. It was the first console to feature on-line gameplay. It has a built-in 56K modem, so you could challenge opponents in multi-player games or even surf the Web! It also had an optional microphone, a reel for fishing games and a light gun. You could also play mini-games on the memory cards!I think DreamCast's biggest downfall was it couldn't play DVDs. Also, Sony generated so much hype for the PS2 that consumers (and game developers) flocked to it, leaving the DC in the dust. Now you can pick up a used DC for around $25 (US).I love my DC, even more than my PS2 and XBox. DC is easy to hack...you can download and burn CDRs, then pop them into your DC. You can play SMS, NES, Super NES and Genesis games right from your DC without a mod chip! (Not that anyone here would do such a thing.) :whistle2:

I got a Dreamcast, too. Of course.IMO it's the best next-gen system cause...it got so many great games, innovative ideas (Haha Eyetoy isnt that innovative, SEGA already had that idea =) and all the stuff. I still play on it...sadly SEGA stopped to produce consoles (Oh and yes, I am a SEGA Fanboy)

Thing is guys, the DC was ok. It had similar processing power to the Playstation (if not a little more). However, what it lacked was a decent gamepad. The advantage of the Playstation was that its pad was so easy to use, even kids could use it without much trouble. Well, it was that AND the fact that sony managed to get so many game developers behind them!!Sony managed to do it again with the PS2 vs XBOX. Personally I hate the XBOX and can't get to grips with the controller, but there is no doubt that it is by far the better console in terms of power and potential. People are realising this and moving over. So, I guess it all comes down to ease of use.
