this is my personal view of this topic. since consoles today are getting are improving a lot fast. so today you can get a well advanced console for about 600.00USD. for example. now PC at the other hand its more expensive. you have to upgrade parts often to keep up with the games. console you change for about 3-5 years. for me PC is a very expensive gaming solution. of course PC has its benefits than consoles (especially in FPS games)anyways its just my thoughts. i do have a PC with very good specs and yes it cost me a little more than 700.00USD as part here in Panama city are not that affordable as in the US. they are not bad though. but still i could have buy a PS3 and wait until not recently to play MGS4 XDanyways PC is no dead yet XD

If anything... console gaming will die. PC has more versatility than a console.

pc gaming is not dead and it never will die. All the parts used in a console are modified pc parts. No matter how powerful a console becomes, it is only good for one purpose. A console is nothing more than a focused pc. We already have hi-def gaming and blu-ray for the pc. Until consoles work multitasking like pcs do, pcs will always be better. A computer more gaming powerful than a ps3 or x360 can be built. It is also easier to write code for pcs than consoles, the marketing is about the same.

Hmm, I don't think it will truly die anytime soon. I play the Sims all the time on my laptop as it's seriously better than the console versions.

I'd say it's pretty much the same. There are games on the PC that consoles don't have and vice versa. When there's a new console, you spend money to buy it. When there's a newer, better part for your PC like a CPU or RAM or video card you buy it. It's pretty much the same process and you spend about the same amount of money in the end. :) Therefore it is safe to say, PC gaming is just as alive as console gaming.

I dont think its gonna die cause of new release of popular games like diablo 3. some ppl still play number 2 so i tihnk like millions will play diablo 3. blizzard is keeping pc games alive. other games like counter strike and similar games are also helping.

PC gaming is not dead. Console gaming has gone downhill this generation. I'm extremely dissapointed. Console games have become very simplified, and after going back to my SNES and PS2 games, I've realized that games these days are almost not challenge at all. I've found myself going through a game barely dying, and when I do die, I'm bored going through the same parts again. Older games such as Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, and Chrono Trigger have a mystical quality to them. Even though the basic game mechanics are simple, the games were challenging and even after completing them you could play them again for hours and hours. Oblivion is the only game for consoles this generation which I've found I can always come back to.So while Rainbow Six, Gears of War, Assassin's Creed, GTA 4, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, GRAW, Call of Duty 3, and yes even Mass Effect ( That's the LAST Bioware game I buy for a console. Bioware is infinitely better on PC) sit collecting dust. I'll be playing Day of Defeat: Source, Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty 4, Spore, Total War: Empires, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Dragon Age, Mirror's Edge, Rise of the Argonauts, Mafia II, etc. on my PC with far better graphics, controls, 60+ fps, and modding communities creating new instances of the games I love adding hours and hours of fun to a game. Not to mention PC gamers enjoy games at $10 less than consoletards, free internet. (Plus all I stated above: High resolution textures, Anti-aliasing, above 60 FPS or more depending on your monitor, mouse and keyboard for those crazy intense firefights and fast paced RTS, and MODS.)P.S. We don't have screaming idiots on our DEDICATED SERVERS.PC gamer for life.

PC gaming is in a way, dying in some areas and getting bigger than others, although the majority of games nowdays are cheap crap churned out as fast as possible, such as every single game EA has made since 2001.So far, RPG is very weak, MMO's are quite strong, but game developers are alot like sheeps, following what seems popular, in this case, the constant creation of unneeded mmo's, sure, RPG's online are doing great, but what about single player ones?, its rare that you come across a good PC RPG (i stated PC because theres likely someone braindead enough on these forums to recommend a console game instead). All the other genre's are going quite well, FPS is steady with the impending release of HL:Aftermath (depending on how valve release it) could sell quite well...RTS will probably die soon, the Dawn Of War expansion can possibly prevent this, I cannot wait till its arrival but its technically dead, C&C Generals isnt really a C&C game, not just that but its the worst RTS game ever made, then theres Warcraft, most of the community has fleed to WoW, so Warcraft is also dying, although its still going when it comes to your local LAN...place...thingy....Simulator games have carked it, The Sims doesnt count, because I would put that game under the category of "I have no life"....Fighting games...they only worked for the NeoGeo, nothing beats the joystick and 4 buttons smile.gifWith that said I personally hope that PC Gaming collapses soon, so developers realise where they screwed up, while their doing that, i'll still be playing games from 1996 for several reasons, replayability and originality being the main two

Oh definately not. I have to agree with the user above me and say that some parts are dying, but others not. I think the problem with RTS's such as Supreme Commander (extream case), the computer requirements are so high that people cannot afford to upgrade their computers in order to play the games. I know that on my computer I cannot play Supreme Commander or Spore because it's not made to play those types of games.

I have to completely disagree. The options for PC gaming versus console are enormously greater, the problem is that the good games are often limited. However, mmorpg's are way better on PC than console in my opinion. City of Heroes all the way!... none of that WoW crap... down with the evil empire!

Not really. Computers will last for many, many years, and so will the games on them. Consoles, I think, have a less bright future (but by no means endangered!).
