PC graphics always outrun console graphics after some time and new consoles today start off more expensive than decent pc systems. Games are also cheaper for the pc (at last in germany. it's the opposite in japan). i can get good older games for 10 euro and less, but the cheapest console games always start at 20 euro. of course the pc is far more versatile too and no hacking/cracking/homebrewing for consoles could be done without a pc (or mac ^^). so eat that console gamers! ;-)

id say pc gamin is dyin out mostly because of consoles being better to use. Even if tech. evolves, its mostly toward making software simpler, easier to use, and look better. most ppl use the computer for a variety of reasons, but they never focus on one thing. thats y pc gaming wont go as far because their focus is divided. when ur on a console, u're already set to just play and nothing else. however, it also might be true that there are a ton more of mmorpg players out there than console gamers in general. im thinkin consoles might eventually hav an mmorpg like WoW or somethin, if they havent already. might need a mouse for that too, or the wii-mote could work too.

Unless you're an ABSOLUTELY UP-TO-DATE HARDWARE FANATIC, you need to update your hardware every 4 years or so. And at least you only need to change outdated parts, whereas in case of consoles you have to dump the entire system in favor of the new one, which is again more expensive than an entire PC.

PC gaming will never die, and is constantly being updated and upgraded to a newer new. If you've ever heard of Blade and Soul, a new mmorpg coming out, you'd know what I'm talking about.

I was actually thinking that PC gaming has made a -small- comeback in the past year. The Orange Box came out, Left 4 Dead came out, and a bunch of other games that have been very successful- All of the PC gamers I know have heard of those games even though they don't play 'em. @_@

i wont deny that console games can have better and smoother graphics sometimesand there are a lot of good games for consolebut PC has a lot more variety and versatilityi dont want to buy a Wii and get stuck looking at Mario on every game cover for the next 4 years, no offense and i know im exaggerating(some ppl get sensitive heh)but your also exaggerating that you have to upgrade your computer every 6 monthsits true that new parts come out but u really can live without themi had a laptop for 6 years with no real upgrades except a hard drive replacement because i used water to cool it down lol... and i could play pretty much every game PC can also have equal graphics with the right computerCrysis was friggon amazingand there was Crysis Warhead which looked just as good and could run on more computersTheres a lot of modding on PC games as wellthis offers longer life and replayability to gamesfor example the GTA San Andreas car mods(more modern cars and stuff)the modding community available for PC games is surprisingly hugeBlizzard is also primarily based on PCwho can ever forget diablo and star craft?and they are working on D3 and SC2 for the futuremultiplayer is also amazing for PCpretty much everyone has a computernot everyone has a 360 or ps3also, many games available on PS3 and 360 are available on PCsuch as Need for Speed, which acctually runs great and looks greatthere of course are many good games for just the systemsbut if i ever had to choose between PC, 360, Wii, or PS3, i would go with the PCPC games have improved a lot over the years

I think PC gaming isn't dead, but took a major hit in the past 10 years due to several reasons (bad management, etc)The biggest problem is the decline of three of the giants in the industry. Sierra, Interplay, and Origin. I haven't seen a lot out of Apogee/3d Realms or ID Software either. That combined with deadlines and rushed games that were bugged and or major disappointments. (Ultima IX....). Access is another one no longer around. Origin is gone. They gave us Ultima series (Ultima VII is still the best RPG I've played) and the Wing Commander Series (Wing Commander III)Interplay gave us Fallout I and II (and Arcanum was from Trokia)Sierra gave us the point and click adventures. Kings Quest, Police Quest, Space Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, and especially the Gabriel Knight games.3d Realms - What happened to Duke Nuken Forever? ID - What's the next Doom or Quake? Another problem was the poor Full Motion Video, Warcraft Clones, and Doom clones. Some good ones like Gabriel Knight II, but many sucked. I think it can make a comeback, but there needs to be a lot of content to rival the old days. Graphics are important, but there are other factors too.

Yes... I would rather use my PC for surfing the internet and use a console, something MADE for video games, for video games.

Definitely not dead. Changing, yes.PC games (specifically online) has evolved substantially over the past 10 years. It started with browser games, where you do repetitive stuff for fun, like neopets. Then they came out with games such as runescape, where you can interact more and do repetitive stuff. Then koreans came out with more new games where level grinding was suppose to be fun. After that, World of Warcraft took the spot light by introducing more ways to have fun than just level grinding. Who knows what we will have next. But online games are definitely not dead. However, games that requires you to play alone is not going to succeed. It's like saying, why go to a club when you're going to have a drink by yourself? Same idea =P

PC gaming would never be dead, but it is the most expensive compared to a console. All new titles are made for PC, i think PC offers a more intense experience.

PC gaming would never be dead, but it is the most expensive compared to a console.

It still gives you your money's worth more than consoles in that it can do WAY more than just gaming, and gaming ;) And PC need occassional upgrades that are way cheap, and when it's time, consoles have to be dumped completely to make way for the new one (as in, it becomes useless, even if you don't dump the older one, the new console in the series can run everything its predecessor could, and more). In a way, that makes console business more expensive than PCs in the long run. And like a guy few posts above said, not all have consoles, but most everyone have a PC, and for them, just making a very few upgrades is enough to make it a gaming machine, way cheaper than having to buy an entire new console.

i agree, the Pc is not where near dead. it may not be able to contend with the ps3's 7 core, but its still got good games on it like crysis and C&C.

not by a long shot. there still loads of tournaments of pc games being held. take starcraft brood war for example. it's been out for more than a decade and yet there are still lots [me include] of fans that watch the tournaments being held [especially those that are held in korea i.e. OSL, MSL, and Proleague]

Why do people ask this, No it's not dead and won't die. Hell people game on TI-81 calculators, they game on any platform they can, even (GASP) IRL so no, it's not dead, dying or even aging that much.

I think PC gaming will live forever, or for so long, that all games are made for Mac also :P Why should PC gaming die? If someone got good PC, he/she can always rise the graphics-level above any console. And one more thing: PC's got more buttons than those puny controllers. LONG LIVE COMPUTERS!

PC gaming is not dead, nor will it ever become dead. anything that your console can do a PC can also do as well. game makers are also more recently noticing that PC's can offer a substantial return. so if anything PC gaming will only get more active, rather than die out. -PC GAMERS UNITE AND SHOW THESE CONSOLE PEOPLE WHY WE ARE SUPERIOR-
