PC gaming would only die if gaming consoles took the place of computers.And....that will never happen.Microsoft puts PC before 360. It won't die out.

PC games actually never dead yet. There are lot of new MMORPG games released these days and some of them are popular. Who knows many players who play MMORPG's around the globe develop network-based communities?

I agree, but there are fantastic games and there are terrible games. Fantastic I think could be Starcraft which has been a huge success (probably a bunch of die-hard SC fans in this forum) while an example of a terrible game could be Big Rigs.

Well PC gamin sucks because it costs ALOT of money, BUT on the other hand, chances are you're buying that new console to play a game that can be played on the same PC you played D2 on. PC usually offer those games you loved on the console (Except Halo 3, you obsessed Halo-freaks :D ) and usually games look better on the PC. PC games offer more features for console games, I'm gonna buy a PC soon good enough to play Fallout3 even though I have it for the 360 (For many reasons than just because it has more editable features, but that is a different story all on its own...) Pretty much, PC gaming just surpasses console gaming because you get the full experience of the game. I can't wait :D

PC games are better for the serious gamer.True, consoles tend to crash less, and its normally a lot quicker to get a game up and running, but you try getting Morrowind on Xbox, patching it up to improve the features and then modding it to the point of being at least 17 whole new games!!! Or how about putting your own soundtracks into GTA Vice City, before redisigning half the vehicles with a downloaded toolkit...The next Gen consoles are getting ever closer to PC's anyway (on line gaming, some download capability) :- I think the future will just end up being a complete hybrid of the two. :gs:

I don't believe that PC gaming is dead, but rather staying strong. There is also a market for gaming consoles right now, so as far as I could tell, both are going strong. I certainly do share the same opinion that someday, there would be PC-console hybrids, and I believe that would be awesome.

No, PC gaming is not dead. It will never die. Why? Simple. People need computers for work, school, or home use, and with that amount of hardware already available, game developers will develop games for it. For consoles, game developers have to take into account the sales of the console when they decide financial feasibility. However, this is not an issue for PC games (but keeping in with technical limitations is still an issue). Blizzard is coming out with Starcraft 2. and Diablo 3. Oh, and shooters are arguably best played with a keyboard and a mouse, so I would not worry about the death of PC gaming.

It's not dead, it just smells funny. Lol no, seriously, it's true most companies are not putting much attention to PC gaming because of the largest piracy community of all times, but still even if it dies I will continue to play because PC games have always been above console gaming in playability. The mouse and keyboard combination can't be defeated with any joystick. Except the Wii remote, but that's not just a joystick.

PC gaming will never die as there a people dedicated to making old games work again on PCs. This includes old console games. Plus you can always get a controller and treat your PC as if it was a console, but with more functionality.Yes it is a problem when games are near unplayable because they are designed with high system requirements (Crysis) but that doesn't mean its dieing.

i dont think pc gaming is dead. i do think the rise of game consols have helped in the decline of people playin games on their pc's. i still play on my pc on the sims etc but i also play alot of online games. when you go into game stores and you see the little shelf full of pc games that have been out for ages and are dirt cheep, you can see the effect that xbox, playstation and nintendo have had on pc games.

Its not dead my friend, but its steadily dying just like its been preditcted by some so called "game experts"Well the fact is that now a days game developers are more into making games for the consoles and a bit lazy while making that transition to the PC...Sad but true.PC gaming is slowly but steadily dying..

i'm feeling that too....with the xbox and the ps3 out, the PC looks like nothing. PCs aren't that cheap and most of the games designed for it require complex hardware specifications.

Without pc gaming, the console gaming world wouldn't exist. If it wasn't for starcraft, and cs 1.6 there never would be the communities we know. However, pcs are much more expensive when compared to consoles which are cheap.I think it's gonna get stronger when d3 + sc2 come out.

NEVER will pc gaming die, you have better graphics on a pc , u can do much more on a pc then a console , like modding your games the way you want ( GTA is a very good example) , and you can mod a pc every month to make it work faster and better on each new game comes out , and you can use it for other stuff like watching movies, listening to music , navigating , all in the same time. And pc gaming is coming back with a lot of force if you ask me , look at the new games they look better, they are more complex every day, an pc gives game makers more room to play with then consoles , just imagine every year they should make a new console just to play a new game with superb graphis.

I agree that consoles have the best games out there. I mean, really, you can't argue about that. A console was made for gaming, fun, chatting. A PC was made for faster ways of working. Games were not a big part of computers when they were made at first. Consoles will always be over computers in games, although *ahem* I hate the joystick. All I'm saying, you PC gamers would probably be mad at me, but I'm not on the console side, neither am I on the PC side. I'll take PC for FPS games everyday, and other games for console everyday. My REAL point is - PC gaming will never die. Without statistics, you can probably still guess a LOT of people still play with the PC.
