I highly doubt that this will happen. PC currently has numerous advantages over game consoles, and would even have loyal followers for its gamesThe PC has so much more that game consoles:1) The mouse- No video game consoles currently have this. This allows much more precision and takes 1 hand2) Upgradability- The PC is much more upgradable than current consoles on the market. It's kind of hard to fix a gamecube3) accessories- This could go under upgradability, but the PC can be given numerous things. I saw a drink holder that gets attached to the tower at one time.4) Ease of programming- PC games can be programmed more easily, I'm learning C++ right now, and I can sort of make my own game for it5) Backwards compatability- The new consoles are not all backwards compatible. Look at the PS3. The computer has some problems, but can play lots of old games.6) WoW- umm... there are tons of WoW addicts out there who probably wouldn't give it up

Technically if I remember correctly the Super Famicon had a mouse you could buy for it as did a few other consoles that had web browsers. Most DOS based games do not function correctly on current computers since they didn't take into account the growth of processor speed when coding the games. (I realize that he isn't likely to check this thread again but that was just bothering me.)

With the emergence of Online gaming for consoles (XBL, PSN, and whatever the Wii has), PC gaming is probably facing some serious competition. However, I don't think that PC gaming will ever die out. Almost everyone is guaranteed to have a PC in their house (in America at least) and if so, are able to play some sort of games on them. The playback capabilities are quite amazing for PCs as well. People still play StarCraft: Brood Wars while most N64 and PS1 games have fallen into oblivion (only to be revived via emulators and ROMs.) The graphical capabilities are much greater for a computer as well. However, the biggest advantage that PCs have imo, are the ability to surf the internet while playing games. You have the whole world wide web at your fingertips and emulators can replace older systems. In many ways, PC gaming is truly superior to console gaming.

i don't believe it's dead. Why? because look at online games, for example. World of Warcraft is a highly-successful mmorpg. And there's even free online games. The game GunZ: The Duel. Thousands of people play it.

I think PC gaming will go on forever because of the adaptability of the PC and also because the PC keeps growing and getting more powerful.I don't think consoles can do this so often as designing and creating a newere one is more expensive then just upgrading a bit.So the new games will have to be compatible with older editions of the same console...(Like PSP 1000,2000,3000,Go)Also a wide range of peripherals can be connected to a PC and since a PC is more important than a console you are most likely to still play on your PC (As i have no consoles). And PCs can be upgraded but consoles can't really....

PC games can't die, I still and will always play Majong and Solitare! Not sure if World of Warcraft counts as a PC game or an online game or what ever but thanks to them people will probably always play on their computer, on their Mac or on their PC.Besides.. Sims! Always going to be people to play that as well. Even the first version is fun :(Edit: spelling and grammar error.

No i prefer pc gaming over consoles. With a pc you can switch game more easiers then console. Just a few clicks and your done. You can surf the web play and listen to music at the same time while chatting if you want to on vent or ts. You cant do that with console.

*cough* skyrim *cough*All joking aside, pc gaming does seem to tend to lean toward multiplayer more that it did in the past. You can blame the internet and some other things on that :PBut yeah pc will take a long time to die out, especially because they are meant to be upgraded and such. Gaming consoles are outdated very fast, but because there are a lot of manufacturers for pc components, you can easily upgrade a pc, or buy a new one with much better specs. A disturbing trend that I see however, is that certain developers seem to develop games for consoles (xbox 360 games in particular) and make a quick port for the pc. Not really motivating for people to buy a pc game if it has the exact graphics and controls as an outdated console.

How can you say PC gaming is dead or dieing. PC gaming is growing. With the advent of Steam, PC gaming has been booming and a new fire has been brought to the platform. I also think the gaming community and average gaming consumer will realize that PC gaming is cheaper and more affordable. Many people have the misconception that PC game is more expensive, but a $300 laptop can run some of the best PC games out there. These game include League of Legends and Team Fortress 2. Additionally, these games are free to play. The free to play market is expanding as well as Tribes: Ascend and Black Light: Retribution are entering their beta phases. I think free to play is the future for gaming. Furthermore, PC consumers can buy games cheaper on stream than console players, so buying a $600 to $1000 gaming rig will cost less and prove more economical in the future if you decide you do want to play flashier games, which require the top graphics cards and other PC equipment.

Definitley not, PC gaming has just so much open endedness. It almost certinaley has more games on it than all the current consoles combined. It has somthing for everyone from sims to dota, casual to hardcore.

Definitely not. If anything, it is consoles that are dying. Every generation, the line between consoles and computers gets increasingly blurred.

I have never had as much fun playing console games because alot of console games seem to be less engrossing to me.But at the moment I don't see pc games games becoming more popular until they make a lot more "casual" games.

PC game its far from dead but the thing is its a lot easier to distribute a pirate PC game than a pirate copy of a console, the reason its easy, you for example, are posting FROM a computer so we know you have one, but not all of us have a console, or two or the one that the game was realeased to. So the market its a bigger one and the game can be copied and passed from friend to friend thing that its harder to do with a console game.I think.

PC gaming won't ever really die because while entry costs more people haven't really made a shift away from computers. Furthermore, there are large dedicated mod communities for many games. I love my games impossible to beat (or at least nearly) so recently I downloaded Misery for STALKER: Call of Pripyat. In a game that's already brutal I really love having to fight for every single thing I obtain.

Nah... I don't believe that. What I do believe though is that console gamers should stop with saying things that aren't even true. A PC doesn't have worse graphics(Where the heck did that come from anyway?), nor is it more expensive (if you count in the work PC and the price difference between a TV and a monitor for the consoles).Developers should stop making bad console ports for PC though...

I'm going to say no.I started as a console gamer, but I've picked up PC gaming thanks to Steam and my friends. However, I do still play console games....when I have the time to be home and play them. PC games are easier to take on the go than console games (aside from portable consoles).
