I doubt PC gaming will die. PC holds a way bigger portion in the gaming industry than the consoles could ever hope to. That next-gen might increase the size of the slice the consoles get from the cake, but even they can't totally wipe out PC. Also, PC has more titles announced in one year than the three consoles put together. And there are still game types that require a PC to play properly. So, I think PC gaming has a long way to go.

There is no way PC gaming is going away. For one thing, not all parents allow their children to have gaming consoles. As for a PC, you can do many things with it, gaming is just one, so almost eveyone has a PC and therefore has access for a PC game. Plus, there is no way you can top PC graphics. Though they may be falling behind, but they can always improve upon the year, and not each time another generation console comes out.

PC gaming isn't dead, not yet, but it's just because of MMO games I think and with the new consoles.. I think PC gaming might die soon.

DUde!!!!!! computer is the only console that still popular after all these years. I mean do you still see people playing the gameboy pocket, or the gameboy color. NO offense but game consoles get old faster than computers does.

hmm... i think PC gaming will never die.OK, there are many cool games for consoles, but games at pc are different from games at consoles. (at this moment, no one know what will be tomorrow)But if i think, that there are many good rpg-games for consoles and no one of them will be convert to pc...... may be will pc gaming die some day. but only if no good games will be maked for pc. (but this will never happens, or?) >=(

nOOOOOOOHHHHH.....they're not extinct....PC games are the best gaming consoles, they may not be as portable as a PSP, but at least it whoops the hell out of the other consoles with its next gen virtual engines, good gaming satisfaction

As long as there are emulators, there's no chance for PC gaming to die.Even today, most of the old PC games contain more depth than the average next gen game despite the graphics. The thing is with most next gen favoring graphics and "safe" gameplay, it forces people who never had the experience of playing old school to try it out on their emulators and roms downloaded via the internet and makes people who have low specs to search for low specs PC games instead of paying for a console or a PC upgrade. It's a hierarchy that keeps building. If most DOS games were upgraded to modern low end standards like Civilization as well as most companies getting rid of the shareware trials of their downloaded games and remove possible spyware, it might even force PC gaming to further matched the numbers of console gamers.

PC gaming will never DIE! Think of FPSs, have you ever played an FPS on a console. For every good FPS on a console there are 10 on PC. The controls are much better on a PC for FPSs and you can multiplay them very easily. For those of us who know how to use a computer the Emulation factor Lante brings up is huge. You can play any of the classics from Atari, Neo Geo, NES.... Emulation gaming is also very inconspicuous. At work you can easily play an emulator game on your computer and no one is the wiser. But try brining in a console to work or even a portable console. Its not the easiest thing to keep on a low profile. Heck last year I racked up about 200 hours PAID hours where I was playing NES and SNES. As long as you have a computer around Emulators are portable. You just need to store everything on a flash drive. A cheap 512mb will hold a couple different emulator programs and say 100 games. Even if they are big games say 50. It doesn’t matter what console you have 50 games in your pocket, there is nothing more portable. For new games Computer gaming vs Console gaming. Computer gaming does not have dedicated hardware. If you don’t have a computer with some good hardware it may be cheaper to play consoles. It doesn’t matter which OS you run once you are running something else other then the game you have lost resources.

i prefer pc's. they're upgradeable and u can download all these extras for games. but i think it's becoming too necessary to have an up-to-date computer, especially with graphics cards.

That's exactly why it won't die. The more consoles become like PCs, the less original they are, thus making PCs appeal to more users.

PC gaming hasen't died out just yet.For instance, it would be impossible to play Doom 3 on a PS2, but a PCis powerful enough to do that.

in my opinion no and yes because of the fact that now a'days they make pc games for x-box 360, (which sucks for us without 360) but this opens up more opportunities for developers and will eventually make pc gaming extinct. ( i hope not ). Unless magically pc's and surpass the consoles.

I used to be a straight console guy but lately I've been finding myself more and more taking to PC gaming and I think that it will be the same for more and more gamers.

PC gaming won't die for as long as Minesweeper lives, and Minesweeper is immortal.

The thing you've forgotten to cover is that that game releasing works two ways, 360 games get released for PC too. (Or will anyway. Microsoft wouldn't let "Windows" gaming be extinct because of their own product :P)
