To me the best FF was the best one until now 'cause it was the first FF I've ever played.

7 or mayb even if we go retro 6. for some reason i was not grasped to ff8 quite as much as the others, and ffX2 didnt really grasp me as much either, i just hope 12 does

I have to say that FF7 and FF9 tied, both had a great story line with twists galore, both had a great setup to the abilities and weapons and all that, but I think that FF9 wins with the enhanced graphics to FF7

as this is the PSX forum, I'd say: FF IX, then VII, then VIII.But taking in mind every FF...1.- FF V2.- FF IV3.- FF VI4.- FF IX5.- FF VII6.- FF I-II-III in a tie7.- FF VIIIHaven't played the X's ones, though. =P

ff8... because you have to guess alot... but eventually u figure it all out... and the thing between squall and rinoa is awsome... even though its so holywood... its beutiful==> never done in a rpg before

i think its a tie between VI and VII but man was VII confusing and actually its not really cloud that loves aeris its more of the part of him thats zack that loves her id say he actually loves Tifa i mean he freaked out worse when sephiroth hurt tifa in the reactor than when he killed aeris

ff8 ruled for story. ff7's story was confusing. is cloud a sephy clone? and also, the whole idea of meteor comin to kill every1 didn't really appeal to me. ff6's story ruled. the game itself was a bit short but the story made up for it. haven't played 9 yet.so to list them in order of most to least liked for story, i'd put:ff8ff6ff7

Yes, you are right. Final Fantasy VII had the best story line. Oh my gosh! You made me remember when Aeris died. :'(!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!The worst that could possibly happen to Aeris.

Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 9 for me, FF7 had the best storyline of all and the characters were awesome.

FFIV. Not only was the story and characterization the best in the series, but it captured a real sense of desperation unlike any other Final Fantasy before or since... People were willing to die to stop the bad guys. Every other game since, well... How often do you even lose anyone? Once a game? Twice if you count NPCs?The characters in FFIV had to struggle for victory. Not like FFVI, where the world is literally destroyed, and the villain literally becomes a god, but still, none of the heroes really seem to give much of a damn.
