I'm a girl too and I have to say I also tend to like RPGs more :xI do know girls who play games in other genres, fps/etc, but I guess that doesn't interest me specifically.I guess there's the stereotype that girl gamers either do not exist, or are limited to cooking mama ds >_> This one time someone borrowed my ds (to play 4 way mario cart) and said to his friend "$20 that its cooking mama" I think the game was EO2(?) but anyways, girls and guys can have the same interests, it would help if guys didn't act so surprised.I'm a girl, and I love games, mostly RPG's though, platformers, and action games. Not big on shooters, though I have beat BioShock, and played Halo a little. Bloody games don't bother me, I own both Gow 1+2. Meanwhile my female cousin plays online, and plays all kinds of shooters, and she kicks butt, and despite her name being one that obiviously makes her a girl, she gets asked all the time, "Are you a girl?". Why is it that some people still can't accept the fact that girls can play games too?

And the more into games they are, the better. I love finding people with common interests. Of course if they're not into the more hardcore games, that's fine too. I've played stuff like Harvest Moon, or Animal Crossing, or whatever. They've got a more relaxed appeal to them.

Yup, I totally agree. The stereotype should die, like right now. Does anyone know how many girls play games these days? They're not rare anymore, they're not 'so cool that they can beat me I must marry them' etc. They're normal players now, not something to 'oo' and 'aa' over.Go to any online game, and you WILL find girls playing in them. Heck, I'm one of them. I play MMORPGs all the time, along with my boyfriend (who I ironically met on an online game) and we make one hell of a team in those games. I can also kick his ass at SSBM, and I can kick his friend's ass at SSBB.I once went to a game arcade with my sister's boyfriend. I asked him to play a fighting game with me. I totally kicked his ass, and he stood there staring at me with a wide open mouth saying: "A girl who beat me in a game!?" Yeah, it's nothing special.Gender has nothing to do with your ability to kick ass at any game.I find it very amusing that people still put stereotypes on the subject of girls and gaming. Actually, what makes me laugh is how many guys go crazy over girls that play games. Chances are that there are ALOT of girls that you know that play some type of game that's out there, even if it's not on a console or anything. At the same time, there alot of guys who just go crazy and act as if it's something rare. It's not, and people just have to realize that games are not limited to a being a 'guy thing'. That's a big stereotype right there, and it should have died a while ago. I think it's fine they play. Plus it just means that there's more competition out there. Also, girls aren't just limited to playing one type of game either. I just looked down and noticed a topic called 'Games suitable for girls'. Basically, that's up to the person, whether or not they like fighting, racing, adventure, rpg, or whatever...I think they have much a choice as anyone else does.
