No offense guys, but all im seeing lately in this forum is rpg stuff...mainly FF. I agree Final Fantasy is great, but we are seeing a lot of repeats here. I decided to start a topic about a game I don't see a lot about. TOMBA 2. I really enjoyed this game and its strange graphics style. It was great how it was 3-D yet still 2-D. Its soundtrack is what really got me. This was the first playstation adventure game I ever beat. Toomba was a great game, but nowhere near rivals Tomba 2. What are your thoughts on it? Remember the game with me.

Of course. It has a great story and awesome music. It's not necessarily the best looking game, but you should at least give it a chance.

You're main mission is to capture 8 pigs but there are other little mini missions in the whole game. The game is most of the time a side view 3-D game. Buy it used or rent it to check it out.Edit:seems i mixed up masks with bags. been awhile though.

We are talking about Tomba2 The evil swine return right? there are no 4 masks, the goal of the game is to resuce tabby who is a friend of Tomba's. but before he can find her these things called evil pigs (8 of them) come and basically curse the land, altering everything. your job is now to capture the evil pigs, how you say, simple. for each of the evil pigs there is a corresponding pig bag that you must first find and then find the pig door which will only relveal itself after you have brought the corresponding pig bag near it, then you have to fight the evil pig in its domain and catch it and throw it into the bag 3X to capture it. I will agree to the fact it is a game in 3D but it retains alot of similarities of its predecessor Tomba in the 2D department. There are plenty of extra options of things that you can do. The game is based similar to FFT and FFTA, or in other words missions. there are missions that are required and there are extras. the extras get you really cool stuff and all. you have items and equipment that you can use and there are areas of non linear movement. for its time the graphics are great, the customization is decent and the gameplay and storyline are great too. I have had the game for 6-7 years I think, beat it around 4 times got my time down to about 2 hrs total, of course I had memorized the whole thing, and there are also additional missions that you can do if you also have Tomba, the first one. All in all I give the game a 4.5 out of 5 and would recommend anyone that wants to try something different from the mainstream of fighting, racing, and rpg especially considering it has all of them in it, with a twist...

Dude, i could have sworn there were masks, but I guess I was thinking of the bags. Its been around 3 years since I played it though. You couldn't have had it for six or seven years though because Tomba 2 came out in 2000.

the seven years thing may be tomba the first one but the both the Tomba games were based on the evil pigs and capturing them and restoring the land

I can tell that squall117 has never played the game before, its one of those games that sounds aboslutely ridiculous and it is, but the manner in which the game goes makes it a big time comedy

the thing is that you really can't compare the Tomba series with the FF series. People can try all they want but it just doesn't work. It's like comparing apples and oranges. They different, Tomba rocks, FF game rock. But you just can't compare them so stop trying

Tomba and Tombi were used interchangably when they released, same thing with the Jet Moto series, also called Jet Rider
