I like FF7 because of its story but it took a while to beat as the graphics really didn't motivate me to play it. Another favorite FF of mine was 8 but the cards and all got really annoying quick.

Final Fantasy VIII suck! Final Fantasy X follow that stupidity.May be Final Fantasy VI is the best FF. But I think Final Fantasy XII is very good, too. Anyway, I still prefer Final Fantasy IX.

Final Fantasy 7 all the way for this neko. It's probably cause 7 was the first one I played and it got me hooked. FF8 was kinda complicated for me. Never played FF9. FF 10 was ok. FF12, the battle system has it's advantages and disadvantages.

Of the main 13 titles (FFI-XII, don't forget the stupid X-2), my top 5 is:1. FFVIII; I didn't actually think I'd choose this one, but when I thought about it, it's the only one with decent story/characters that also happens to have good gameplay that I can tolerate and makes the game challenging yet fun. Its soundtrack is also impressive. Really, it's a great title. I used to never understand why people loved this game, but really, it is great that it makes sure to always keep it challenging, regardless of how much you are leveling. Actually, overleveling can be devastating if you don't have the right equipment. This is one of the reasons why I think it has the best gameplay of the modern titles.2. FFX; Good soundtrack, although the Black Mages version of Otherworld beats the original version 10,000 times over, and there are some pretty unimpressive tracks stuck in there... The gameplay is better than most of the others, and its story isn't extremely cliched. Its graphics help too, of course. Impressive game... although I was actually surprised I picked this too! I used to think VI was my fav lol3. FFV; Besides being the only title of the SNES era to provide a decent challenge through the whole game (FFVI's gameplay dropped off quickly, and then fell off the face of the earth, coincidently, when the face of the earth fell off in the storyline too). Good job system, and um, oh yea, did I mention the game is actually somewhat challenging? The soundtrack is decent for a SNES title, if not impressive at times. The storyline was not anything to dream about, but its positive aspects actually manage to outshine this.4. FFIII; yea, the Jap one, not the American FFVI. Although FFII(J) seems to be the first RPG (as far as I can tell anyway) that made the storyline a key part of the game, this title arguably did more for the genre by allowing you to change your classes and making them a key part of the gameplay. The story was decent, anyway, and its soundtrack was far better than most NES games. Considering the limitations of NES sound, Uematsu did a spectacular job on this, actually. Overall, it provided a good challenge if you went through the game at a smooth pace and didn't stop to over-level, and I thought its overall gameplay was noteworthy. The downside to its gameplay is that the Ninja and Sage are so much stronger than the other classes that it just doesn't make sense to try and beat the game with other classes. If they had made them just different from the others instead of obviously stronger, it would have been better. I haven't touched the DS version yet, so I am only commenting on the NES one.5. FFXII; I just played this, which might contribute to it being on this list, but overall I found this game to be a fresh breakaway from the typical FF game. The cliches were rolling smoothly through most of the modern FF era, save for FFX. Yes, even my #1 pick, FFVIII, seemed to have a bit too many cliches. FFX-2 was unique a little bit too, but its gameplay was so horrid that it just turns out to be a piece of crap anyway. This game is legit; nice story and well, its freshness is really what defines it. Its gameplay is not the best in the series, but it is still better than most of the other ones. The battle system is a little lame and reminds me too much of a Runescape or HERO Online type of system. However, it works well enough to make the game enjoyable. So yea, I left FFVI and FFVII off the list. BLASPHEMY! Here's why:FFVI: Yes, the storyline and development of the characters are the best of any SNES title, if not any title on any system. However, its gameplay did not do it for me; it seemed unique at first, but it falls flat after you clear the Floating Continent and enter the World of Ruin. Too many characters can pick up awesome magic spells from espers, so the different classes that each character has at the beginning of the game eventually becomes pointless in the World of Ruin. Also, the opportunity to get both the Gem Box and multiple Economizers is basically a way of saying "Here, let's just completely destroy any difficulty that was left in the game." You can basically look at the World of Ruin as a whole bunch of sidequests, and sure, it's good if you like nonlinearity. Actually, I like nonlinearity. However, the sidequests in this game seem to lack reasonable purpose. So, in short, this happens to have one of the best "half-games" of all time, but since I must look at the second half of the game when considering it as a whole, I couldn't put it on my top 5.FFVII: Sure, it has a movie made about it. Just because it was popular doesn't mean it is THE BEST GAME EVARRRR OMGWOW! Yea, it seems to have a cult following, but regardless, its 3D graphics actually were just crappy enough to make me want to quit playing the game every now and then, and it came out after most of the cliches were already defined for the series, and it abused them. It is the first title in the series that I feel is truly overly cliched. Overall, I didn't find this title to be extremely impressive. It is good, without a doubt, but it also happens to be the most overrated title in the series.Wow, that turned out to be a long post ;)EDIT: I said the Ninja and Shaman were the pwnzers of FFIII; it's the Ninja and Sage, duh!

In terms of game play, I would have to say FFXII has really impressed me. The battle system is like a re-worked version of FFXI's combat system, which was really nice.Storyline wise, FFX's story still touches me with it's love story. especially near the end. Close behind it is FFXI's, what with the incredible depth that the developers put into the storyline. Even though many people shoot the game down in terms of storyline because it's an MMO, those that actually play the game past the first few missions see how FFXI shines as one of the series best in terms of storyline.

Liked FFX's graphics, plot the best. Liked FF8's concept... but it didn't turn out so well. Like FF7's characters.Overall, FFX is the best IMO. Haven't completed FFXII so that may beat FFX. =P
