Best ever has to be Castlevania: Symphonie of the Night. Because I adore that gothic, mysterious feel to that soundtrack... *shudders*But the Final Fantasy series have awesome music as well. Especially FF7. ^.~ One Winged Angel being a favourite.

A lot of RPGs have great soundtrack, I mean they have to, since a lot of the time you're just sittin gthere reading. But C:SOTN had an awesome soundtrack as well as MGS.

I would vote for Skullmonkeys. That game's music is crazy! Crazy good and crazy crazy! Consider the music for a level where you're running across the roof of a gothic castle doding firey skulls: it's a polka-waltz with lyrics singing the praises of Mexian food. Brilliant brilliant songs.

Definitely, CC ... FF lack the luster that CC got. *ahem* Though FF's sound tracks are great, I find CC better.

After all, even if u said for PS1... i love the Chrono trigger OST for SNES, but maybe that's bcause i never played the PS1 version... but if a PS1 game is, i love The Chrono Cross OST, especially the Ending Radical Dreamers (even if i never ended the game! 
) and the start video that is a great song!

The game called "Bowling" had some nice tunes, but Bust A Move 2000 had crazy music.
