Well, i recon its definetly getting tired... FFX was alrite, but FFX-2 was a joke. I recon the alternative RPGs shld get more development such as Golden Sun series on the GBA which are gr8. DECENT old skool RPGs are hard to find now

There are (at least almost any of them) very good games with very good PROFITS to Square... if they keep doing good FFs ... I doubt they will close the series. But everything is possible, just have to wait (and i think A LOT  )

The franchise will die eventually, but I think as long as there's a market Square (or SquareEnix or whatever they call themselves now) will, obviously, continue to pump out Final Fantasy-titles. In one way or another, be it games or movies.

the best FF game ever was FF7. it has bad graphics, stuck with turned based battle, but above all it was a great game. FF8 and FF9 were also turn based, the graphics were a little better, but somehow they weren't as popular. FFX arrived on ps2. the graphics were amazing, still turn based, great story, but FF fans i know of still love FF7 the best.FFXI is a MMO and i don't think it's relevant  FFXII will be coming soon.... the graphics will once again be amazing.the battle style, however, will NOT be turn based. i dunno if i'll like the real time.....who knows if FF will die

At the rate things are going right now, I kind of hope that the series will die off sooner rather than later.Sure, I grew up with Final Fantasy, but I think it's a joke what they've been doing with it the last few years. I feel that the fact that they allowed the damage barrier to be broken in FFX was a complete joke, X-2 isn't even worth being mentioned, XI.. online... need I say more, and now they're turning it into an action rpg with XII.Just get back to the basics, when the series was really successful, theres no point in messing with a proven formula.

Never. The FF series is by far one of the most well known and strongest titles out there. IT WILL NEVER DIE.

I think with the way Square Enix has turned the series into a MMORPG I think it will eventually die out

I totally agree. Theres no way final fantasy will ever die out with as many fans as exist. There's just too much merchandise, too much hype... and the games are just too darn AWESOME!

hmmm yah i guess it will never die out. It helps to have a series of games that doesn't have story lines that link to any others (besides FFX and FFX-2) lolbut they will have to keep on realing those new gameplay features to keep fans entertained

I don't think that the FF saga will ever die. The fact that they make a new story every time they release a FF game kinda adds to the interest of playing FF. Granted some of the story lines have been really lame, but nothing is perfect.

Okay so FF does have a HUGE fanbase, but as a loyal member of it...I have to say, I really do this the quality of the games is going down. Graphics: Always getting better, which is (controversially) the thing that's destroying Final Fantasy. I'm not sure whether the fans are now all about the graphics, and won't buy something if it doesn't LOOK good, or if Square-Enix is not TARGETing for the idiots who don't care about anything but graphics. Let me put it this way, FF6 was one of the best final fantasies out there, not because of pictures, no! It was pixelized! But because of gameplay and the storyline. Rumors coming in from FF12 don't look so good. They imagery is excellent, I agree, but nothing new or that special about the story. Hopefully it's not that they're run out of ideas, but are thinking the wrong way.Plot/Story: FFs1-10 have been rather strong, with some faltering along 8 and some people will say 9. It's all usually the same components though, but we can't argue with that since it's so good. FF10-2 though is in dispute, it's more fanservice compared to game, something to wrap up the FF10 story (which I believe, was just fine as it was). Characters: You have the typical thieves, mages, fighters, etc. The Job system in FF10-2 was a welcome refresher, coming back from FF6, but not as special as back then, especially since (I think, not sure, correct me if I'm wrong please) FF10-2 chars do not have a stat cap, so they turn into carbon copies of each other. What I really want now is some advancement in abilities, animation, movements, maybe even the concept of magic. Music: What first got me into FF was the music, astounding no? I was saddened by the loss of Nobuo (yes, he left the cast boo hoo), and took it as a bit of a sign. FFTA, worst music ever, coming into second to FFX-2. Music's a crucial component, and not to mention, a huge moneymaker for games. FF4, 5, 3/6, 7, 9, and 10 were no doubt the hits. FF11 hardly comes into play here, and hopefully FF12 will come up with something better. So my conclusion is, FF is not going to DIE perse, but it is falling. It will never lose it's fans, but they will become disheartened, and perhaps even numbed if worse games come out. Final Fantasy will lose its luster and be knocked out of place by a new franchise.
