i think that roy has more power, but marth has more speed...Roy or Marth a question most people asked wen SSBM came out. Oh yeah.... and try to add some points to why they're better

roy...just because he is the only one im actually good at using i dont like marth for some reason probably b/c my friend kicks my butt when he uses him and lose when i use him

Its all about style of play. While Roy may be stronger, Marth has a lot more advantages. He's faster, better jumping ability, more consistant counter(roy's is stronger, but it doesn't last as long and he backs up slightly which makes it harder for it to work), and the sweet spot of his sword is more towards the tip. But like I said, if you like power over speed, jumping ability, and combo abilities, then Roys your man.

i think both of them are strong enough to kill anything but roy is a ground fighter and marth can be an aerial fighter well my best scores are with roy

It depends on your play style. Roy deals more damage, and deals even more damage when you attack close range, but Marth is faster and deals more damage when you hit with the edge of his sword. But I personally like Marth more.

alot of people say Roy is Stronger, i personally believe that they are equal in terms of strength and Marth is faster so i would definitely say Marth is better.

Roy, kinda like link his upward power moves are easier to pull off. which makes him a good character for the endurance portion of the game.-Æ

I like Marth's name better, so I choose Marth over Roy. It's only one letter away from "Math" which is pretty much the same word as "Aftermath," which is just awesome.

no brain Marth hands down... i hate that though being a Dr. Mario user and knowing i have to deal with the reach and speed... o btw my name is Roy 
i totally agree with u man.. if anyone knows the game they'll know that it wouldnt be a contestMarth if you really know anything about the game.

Well, Marth is way faster than Roy, but Roy is way more pwerful. Marth's sword causes more damage when it is the tip of the sword that hits. The opposite happens with Roy: his blade is more powerful. However, Roy's attacks cause more damage and a plus fire effect, but are rather slower than Marth's. Marth's attacks are based in overwhelming the enemy with speed, whereas there is no specified strats with Roy: simply thwack the enemy until he dies. Roy's special charged attack with the B button can cause instantaneous death, but it takes him a lot to charge, and it even damages him, whereas Marth's is faster, but nowhere as powerful as Roy's. After all, it's merely a matter of likes and gaming style.

Marth is the obviously superior character.He's got much better horizontal recovery.Dash+A, short hop, meteor smash.'Nuff said.

I think Marth is better, Top Tier, faster, and cheaper.
