Defiantly Roy, He's way stronger, and he's my fav. character. Roy's fire blade (i think that's what it's called) attack is much stronger and nearly a 1 hit k.o, but it can cause lots of damage. MArth's Fire Blade (where u hold down the B button) is short and weak

Roys definately the best but i think he could be better

[THIS IS FOR ALL WHO THINK ROY IS BETTER, ILL KICK YOUR AZZ WITH MARTH ANYTIME] [BUT YOU HAVE TO KNOW THEY ARE EQUALLY POWERFUL, DEPENDING ON YOUR ABILITIES, IS HOW YOU PROPERLY JUDGE "WHO IS BETTER"]lmao, you cant say taht hes better just cuz hes your fav character, and he is not stronger than marth. For me, i only play both character and ice climber but still comparing marth and roy, marth is better in speed, damage, range, melee, combo and low knockback; roy is better in that he has elemental attack which counts as a hit, as you stated roy's "fire blade" aka counter attack, is not a 1 hit KO, its actually 2 hits and its a knockout attack, he is skilled in any attack which causes him to use the fire element, air attacks, knockout, and dragon combo. This is how you compare, not because hes your favorite. Marth's down B attack aka Counter hit is an excellent skill, not like roy, you'll be able to spam it if someone hits you, and the animation is faster so you can repeated use it if you opponent is a random swinger.Overall, roy is good if you dont fight against a character with range attack, because he has no range attacks to fight back, and his range is not as far as marth. marth is good in that he'll be able to kill anyone with range attacks like LINK, and he'll be able to reach ppl with his forward A attack which has a farther range than any of his other attacks. (error for marth is his up B attack, very high delay)

Well, considering I've been to professional tournaments, with national-level contestants, I would know whether Marth or Roy is better. The pros talk about this type of thing. All the MLG contestants have already been through this discussion, long ago. The unanimous conclusion? Marth. Most people believe that Marth is faster and that Roy is stronger. That, however, is simplistic. Consider Roy's kill moves - does he have anything besides forward smash that can kill consistently before 100%? Not really. So to ensure fast kills he either needs to land a forward smash or get a "gimp kill" by edge-guarding. Let's take each possibility one-by-one.Forward smash. First off, you can't just whip forward smash around, because its laggy and requires a specific spacing - its hard to get pro smashers to sit still right in front of you. So Roy needs a lead-in, an attack or situation that guarantees Roy the fsmash. Unfortunately, Roy's aerial attacks can't stun the opponent long enough, and his ground attacks and throw have too much knockback. His combo options into forward smash are limited. Meanwhile, Marth relies on his tipped forward smash to kill. To hit with the tip, which is even stronger than the center of Roy's blade (though the center of Marth's blade is weaker), requires slightly different spacing: generally, the easiest place to connect is a little above Marth, slightly to the side. There are numerous ways of getting the opponent in that position - via forward aerial, up throw, forward throw, up tilt, down aerial, tech chase off a Battlefield/Yoshi's Story platform. If you watch any of the world's better Marth players on YouTube - Mew2King, Raserucort, Ken - they can often find a way to kill with forward smash at damages as low as 40%. In fact, I seem to remember a video on Battlefield where Marth kills Sheik at 24%, but I can't find it. Actually, he doesn't kill her outright, he merely sets her up for edge-guard.Which brings me to my second point - Roy has almost no recourse to edge-guarding. The best he can do is sit atop the ledge and throw forward smash or charged B, or to edge-hog. Which are rather passive options and leave the opponent with plenty of hope to getting back on-stage. The best characters in the game can usually edge-guard by throwing projectiles (Roy has none) or jumping off-stage (hard for Roy because he falls too fast and jumps too low, and his aerials are so pathetically weak). Marth can't throw projectiles, but his slower falling speed (and especially his lower acceleration - he actually falls pretty fast at top speed) and floaty jumps allow him to wander off-stage to intercept the opponent with back aerial, forward aerial, or the ever-deadly down aerial spike. Marth's also in the unique position of being able to combo enemies off the edge with forward aerial, and setting up an instant kill with down aerial. That's commonly called a "Ken combo," because it's pretty hard to pull off, but the better players can all perform Ken combos with regularity, and Mew2King in particular can spike opponents to death out of the blue (up tilt to spike). Roy has no such spike.

Marth. Period. As stated above Its too hard to use some of Roy's Death moves, while for Marth he is faster, more agile, and can juggle people easier. Also Roy's Fire Emblem is horrible, even if Marth's is for the NES and Roy's is for the GBA and the SNES. The characters (Even Roy) are unbelievable. Marth's can be understood, if you find a translated version.

Marth is the better character, his ariel game is much better and he does MORE damage when he sweet spots his attacks. At high levels of play Roy is actually considered the faster character due to his shorter short hop but Marth is overall better.

Roy is good for close base attacks Marth is for the people who don't like to get close. More or less marth is cautious Roy is jump on in there.

Marth is better as a CPU because of his speed, and the computer always seems to know exactly where to hit on the blade.Roy is better as a PC for effective use of the fire attacks.
