in my opinion roy is a better fighter and is better looking but marth is myterious and daring like a young batman if they battled each other it would be a fight to the finish with a titanic endingRoy or Marth a question most people asked wen SSBM came out. Oh yeah.... and try to add some points to why they're better

Ken isn't from Japan. He's from the US. But yes, Ken is officially ranked number one in America and generally regarded as the best around the world. Yes, he mains Marth, but that doesn't necessarily mean Marth is better. If that were the case, Marth would be above Fox in the tier list which he isn't.Marth is, however, better than Roy hands down. The reasons have been stated multiple times, most importantly being the location of sweetspots, attack lag, falling speed, and aerial combat proficiency. Also if you go to youtube and look for SSBM tournements, you will see that the best player in the world is a guy named Ken from Japan. And he uses marth. Thats got to tell you something right there *nods*

Marth IS a BETTER character than roy because the player is exposed to having an easier time beating somebody with marth than with roy because if you use marth correctly or the most efficient way (meaning not smashing A everwhere) marth has more advantages and less flaws than roy.let me put it to you this way. if an expert tourney player that knows how to take full advantage of shffl's and everything there is to do and is really good, plays against the same type of player but one picks marth and the other one picks mr. game and watch. marth is PROBABLY going to win becuz mr. game and watch has the HUGE flaw of having HUGE LAG after almost every move, so which character is the "better" character? MARTH.but i do understand what your trying to say of course and it is kind of true in a sense but you can't ignore that they are characters that have many advantages and very little disadvantages and that all characters are not even or balanced. but of course its possible to beat marth with Mr. G&W we are humans and there are a lot of variables its not like we pick a good character against a bad or mid one and we automatically win.o and beating the 15 min. blah blah blah doesn't really give you a sense of skill when it comes to fighting other people one on one. it takes skill i guess but in another completely different way than if you were fighting somebody that knows how to play decently. im not saying you suck but just saying that there are awesome tourney players who lose against level 7 computers because they are so used to doing mind games and moving around when the computer isn't going to respond to any of that becuz its AI. while mind games should be a HUGE part in your game.ROY is not worse or better than Marth. Argue all you want, the fact remains that its all about the skill of the player.I use Roy's lack of air time to my advantage; Its very easy for me to quickly dodge about the area using short, fast little attacks. Marth on the other hand is very slow in the air, making fast attacks almost an impossibility. I beat the 15 min. melee with Roy with over 1000 kills, and less than 50% damage. It also seems to be very easy to me to get close in to the enemy and nail them with my blade very fast and hard. It all depends on who you are better with. I have never been beaten more than twice, though i am seeking hard opponents.

As a character, Marth is better than Roy. The reasons have been stated several times. It's undisputed that Marth is stronger. The only attacks where Roy will do more damage are his B attacks, which is negligible. The added fire effect of Roy's attacks do nothing, and in fact, make his attacks feel like they have less impact. Marth's sword is also superior to Roy's, as the Falchion's sweetspot is located at the tip whereas the Sword of Seals has it near the hilt. That means Marth can hit harder from farther away, where Roy has to get closer for maximum damage. Marth's grabs are also much better, as he can chain grab as well as combo off of them whereas Roy cannot. Whether Marth or Roy is faster is up for grabs, however, as Marth has less delay on his attacks and Roy has faster SHFFLs.But yes, the most important factor is player skill. However, if two equally skilled players fought one another, one with Marth and the other with Roy, the one playing Marth is much more likely because Marth is, in fact, the better character. It's not a definite win for the Marth player, but he does have the higher chance of winning.ROY is not worse or better than Marth. Argue all you want, the fact remains that its all about the skill of the player.
Sorry, but you obviously haven't played anyone worthwhile then.I have never been beaten more than twice, though i am seeking hard opponents.

Results were the same, yes, my bad. But your results are off. They should both be at 20% with the F-smash when hit with the sweetspot. However, Marth hits harder when comparing attacks not connected at the sweetspots. 14% to Roy's 12%.LOL your both wrong. I decided to test this just now, and both results were the same. In Practice mode against princess peach, both marth and roy both dealt 13% damage when hitting with the tip. Its sad to see that so many people have jumped on this little bandwagon...
