FFTA, Super Robot Taisen and Yggdra Union. Those are the only three games where stratgey was SERIOUSLY required. The chances of losing even while planning things out were still high as heck. For those who argue FE is good, do I need to mention that cheap arena leveling method? In Sacred Stones I had about 10-15 characters at level 20 or into their second jobs well before I even rondevouzed with the "other" main character (Prince or Princess).Oh yes, and using a gba emulator I realized something, in Advanced Wars 1 and 2. The AI will 95% take the same action. The only time this does not apply is when it can engage in combat. I tried this by saving multiple save states of multiple games, and reloading them repeatedly, and I found out that the only time they changed their course of action was to attack another unit, and even then they would usually go to the same location, even with multiple ones that were more stratgegically favorable in movement/attack range.

I think FFTA is probably one of the best out there. I'm not a big fan of FE and Advanced Wars was ok. I didn't like those ones too much, but they were kind of fun. So I would say FFTA.

I think Advance Wars was better... FFTA required no thinking what so ever...

The silent air will soon be filled with horrid screams. The vague night will soon be lit by the destruction we leave in our wake. The shivery ground will soon be covered with sweltering blood. We will bring about...EndlessChaoz.

Dude, enough with FFTA. If you can beat the game with one character (I have, Marche can become a friggin TANK pretty quickly), it's not legit. I'm suprised that I've mostly only seen FFTA and FE. What about Onimusha or Tactics Ogre? Hell, Riviera, if you count it (counts in my mind) is better than FFTA and FE.

Are you saying you edited your post for grammar? ... wow.... just... wow.... I'll avoid comment on that... but I still felt that it needed to be... displayed. :PAs for the topic, I had forgotten about Yggdra Union until I JUST played it... that is better than FFTA and FE also... but it's still not super-duper-superb.And I'm still wondering, does Riviera count as a RPG/Strategy?

Advance wars 2 was really hard. I got every single character except Strum which is like get an S in Campaign or something.I even beat Hard mode which took forever and the best thing is that i didn't use an emulator lol.

the finalfantasy fan in me tells that finalfantasy tactics is the best strategy game on the GBA. however the tactical man inside me chose advance wars 2.if I have to choose between the two. I wont pick any. I'd go fot super Robot taisen 2.In a nutshell FF tactics, Advance wars and super Robot taisen 2 are second to none for me

Advance wars 2 for your traditional style strategy game, although Fire Emblem (very similar gameplay to AW) possibly requires more strategy since when a unit dies, it DIES! No building replacements, you're stuck with what you're given. Better storyline, too.

what about the other strategy games that aren't so mainstream. i loved rebelstar tactical command. it has a different element of strategy than those of advance wars and fire emblem.you first have to spot your enemy before you do anything so it's more like game of camping or stealth than the power battles of Fire emblem (levleing) and advance wars (choosing what unit to counter).

The original Fire Emblem for pure strategy. Although the second is better in many ways and allows you to develop all of the characters, in terms of pure strategy, nothing beat FE1, where you can't just level up when a stage is too hard. The only that comes close is Tactics Ogre, but FE is still slightly better in terms of pure strategy. Advance Wars is a joke, FFTA has terrible AI, especially at the end, and imbalanced classes
