Metroid is older but Halo is more professional-looking. Apples and oranges?

MEtroid in my opinion is one of the best FPS to date. It manages to combine Zelda esc qualities but at the same time its 100% unique in its kind. I love fresh games like metroid prime and so on. Not to mention metroid has so much more history then halo and i honestly believe without metroid halo will never of happened so 100% Metroid wins.

They are 2 different games. They have similarities in the world they are in but for the most part the games themselves are completely different. Halo is a straightforward, linear, storybased shooter while Metroid is an open-ended, exploration-based first-person adventure game. It is more of a shooter now since they released the trilogy with proper 1st person controls on the Wii. Halo is very simple in its gameplay (not a bad thing) shoot anything that moves and use combat strategies to stay alive. It's based on your reflexes rather than your problem-solving skills. Metroid requires each boss to be beat a certain way. shooting it will do nothing most of the time. you have to strategically shoot it. (i.e. blast off its rear shell, use the environment to your advantage, shoot out its legs so you can bomb its mouth, etc) Exploration is the topic of the day with Metroid. expect a lot of backtracking to areas that were unavailable until you got a certain weapon/skill. lots of power-ups, missle xpansions, and optional things to collect. there is a meticulous amount of detail that goes into each room in metroid. not so much in halo. halo has good design for firefights but not a lot of smaller details like metroid. Then there is the issue of multiplayer. metroid 2 had multiplayer but it was generic and not that great. halo is ALL ABOUT the multiplayer. thats what its famous for, not necessarily the single player, although its good too. halo had 8 player online deathmatch, ctf, team dm, etc. and vehicles, voice chat, friends list, map packs, etc. the list goes on. metroid is strictly single player while halo is both, but mostly multiplayer, since the campaign in halo is nothing compared to metroids's.overall they are both good and appeal to different crowds based on whether you wanna go solo or teamed up. in my opinion metroid is the superior game because its base gameplay is so rock solid and deep, and while halos shooting mechanics work extremely well, theres not much else to do other than to shoot things. no secrets to find, no side quests, no reason to play thru the campaign a second time other than just pure fun factor. plus metroids campaign is at least twice as long as halos.my opinionHalo: 9.3Halo 2: 9.4Halo 3: haven't played enough to grade (no x360)Series: 9.4Metroid: 9.8Metroid 2: 9.6Metroid 3: 9.1Series: 9.6VERY close call IMHO

yeah I hear ya. If master cheif and samus would both fight it would most likely end in a tie unless mc runs out of ammo or somethin'

I say that Halo is a better series than metroid.

Metroid for sure, cooler protagonist. That and Metroid isn't just FPS, it's got some platforming and puzzle solving.

Both are good games but I feel that Halo tends to be more of the same with little improvements in each iteration. You could say the same thing about Metroid but somehow Metroid has managed to still seem fresh to me no matter how many times I've had to find the same old spider ball.

never played a halo game, so metroid all the way. been a fan of it since it scared me watching my dad play super metroid on the snes, right up to enjoying the environments and battle mechanics in metroid prime!
