It's an unfair comparison really. Metroid isn't really a true shooter in the vein Halo is. It's part puzzle, platform and shooting so it distances itself in genre quick remarkably compared to Halo.If I had to pick, Halo edges it purely because of the longevity the online play gives me

Well, Im on the last level of Halo, so I feel its time i can judge which of these games is better. And to be honest, it wasnt really close.Halo: the only category this game wins in is controls. I played it on the pc, so i took advantage of the mouse/wasd setup, but ive played the traditional dual analog stick fps setup many times before. either way halo wins in controls even with nintendos slick lock on feature. Other than that, Halo fails to compare. Even with a monumental ending, this game cannot pull off the enjoyable experience of MP. Everything in Halo is the same. Theres no real progression in your character, or even the game, other than the plot line (which admittedly was not bad). You fight the same half dozen aliens the whole time, and every installation you invade and shoot up look the same. The vehicles weren't bad, but didnt make up for the monotony. shoot, duck, reload, recharge. shoot, duck, reload, recharge.Metroid: contains a much more interactive and detailed environment. Metroid contains dozens of creatures in the wild, and at least as many varieties of space pirates as there are convenant. The addition of skills and abilities over time gave me a greater sense of accomplishment, and the boss fights were highlights of the game. The pace of the game was very controlled, and the story that eventually unfolds is very satisfying. The play was much more varied and puzzle based rather than squeez and spray.game length: they were both about the same. i beat both in less than 2 weeks, around 20-25 hours for each game.graphics: since pc graphics depend on the system, i dont have much relevant to say from my experience. when played xbox vs gc, they are very comparable though.both were good games, but only one deserves to be in the top 10 of all time.

HALO IS BETTER BY FARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR no doubtPOINTS were deducted for this post by GBATESTPlease refer to the forum rules to find out why your points were deducted.

I say metroid. I think Halo is overrated, its not bad, its just people get obsessed with it. I like Samus and the Metroid plot line better too.

I agree with you. Halo isn't a bad game but it is really overrated. The metroid plot is really cool. The shock of realizing that Samus is a woman... I still remember that day.

Oh mah gawd! Halo! I hate what they did to metroid, especially with the Wii game... Got really disappointed in that! Also, I was also shocked when I found out Samus was a woman.

I have to say metroid. My freind has halo, and i dont think its that great. When ive mentioned this, al i get in response is "BUT LOOK AT THE GRAPHICS THEY WILL EAT YOU THEN BARF YOU UP THEN EAT YOU AGAIN THEN THEY WILL *gulp* EAT YOUR NES!!!!" You could watch a cat meow in glorious 3D, but id rather play metroid 1 in 8 bit.

Ehh... this is a toughie, but I'm going with Halo. The Metroid Prime games are interesting, but the levels are always dark and creepy(not in a good sci-fi horror way), it's so claustrophobic and just... ugh.

Metroid by far Super Metroid was the 3rd best game on the SNES (after SMW and ALTTP), the Halo trillogy was a good story (although they most likely could have fit all three on one disc they where that short, and people take the muliplayer WAY too seriously (i was given bad rep by someone and then they sent me a message saying "ha that's what you get for destorying my run of 5 game's without dieing i mean WTF))

It really all depends on what your looking for,Botha re FPS games, but they are quite different, halo is more of a linear fps with fast paced action, with vehicles, multiple weapons and a good story, however the environment isnt as interactive, and some areas of the game seem imposible at times in harder difficulty settingsMetroid also has a good story, but what it lacks in vehicles and numerous weapons, it gains in its in depth environments and interactivity, but the game takes longer to finish and certain areas can prove to be a little frustrating at times.I'm not going to vote because i think both games are good in their own rights, it just depends what i'm in the mood for.

Metroid. Its been around longer and was probably partly an inspiration for Halo. The Metroid story is far more convincing than Halo's. And, IMO it's simply a more memorable game. Plus, you can't transform into a freakin' ball in Halo! Can Master Chief acquire X-ray vision? NOPE! Can He find secret items that improve his armored suit and weapons and grant him special powers?? Nuh uh! Besides, Samus is a chick. Its cool to play a girl in a video game for a change.

i think metroid but only because i haven't really played any games in the halo series. i do think that halo is somewhat overrated. i enjoy metroid because of its storyline and intuitive gaming mechanics.
