Something like Aqua Timez and High and Mighty COLOR. If you're asking for singers then its YUI, Yui Horie and Rie Fu

Seems The Cherry Coke$ hasn't been mentioned in the thread. :/So nice that Japan is actually developing a Celtic punk scene.

Asian Kung-fu generation for the all their songs sound the same! They're pretty good though. Very melodic, soothing rock music.

Naww....I mean, they have some songs that sound alike, but then again, a lot of bands do because that's the style they like to play! No, if you listen to there albums, they actually have some different stuff...but since you called them melodic, I assume you have (most people don't consider Haruka Kanata or Rewrite melodic...)....my favorite song from them (or atleast at the top of my list of my favorite songs from them....I love the band, I do....) is "Rojiura no Usagi", or "Backalley Bunny" as I've heard it translated to. It really is a cool song.

Anyway, I like The Pillows, the GazettE, An Cafe, Girugamesh, The Candy Spooky Theater, Nightmare, L'arc~en~ciel, Dolly, Merry, Kagrra, Moi dix Mois, Malice Mizer (I don't like the Tetsu era though), Baroque, Tokyo Jihen, Remioromen, Lunar Sea... and quite a lot more.. o.O

YUI is a must in a CD store. At least in Japan it is.Also, it seems like Aqua Timez is pretty popular in the US.WaTis also good if you want jRAPOrange Range was (yes, WAS) pretty popular in Japan. Maybe if there are fans looking for old songs it COULD be an option.

I haven't listened to a whole lot of J-Pop, but I can honestly say: I do like Ayumi Hamasaki (what J-music listener wouldn't like her?), but my first J-music discovery was Mika Nakashima, whose music is more jazz-like and thus sets her apart from most of the J-musicians out there, from what I've read. Misia came next...I like her style of singing. Then along came Hironobu Kageyama (if you know the Dragonball Z music, you might've heard of him).
