And its not finished yet!Today's tut is about:LinesThose might not seem very important or look like much but they can enhance a sig and make all the difference.Lets say I want to add'em on that sig here: Posted Image(the method used to make this will be said in another tut)Now to do the lines make a new layer under color balance. And then select the pencil tool. (be sure to set your brushes to default)Now make your lines with the pencil tool by draggin it for a side to another by holding shift. You now have straight lines. My tip is to make vertical lines on a layer and horizontal on another this way you can move them around easily. What I do is that I make lines in the middle of the layer like this:Posted ImageAnd then I take the square selector to select them one by one and move them to the exact spot I want them to be. Posted ImageThen I change the line layer to this mode:Posted ImageThen you can play around by reducing the opacity or blur the lines until you are happy and then do the same thing with vertical lines. Here is my final result:Posted ImageLike I said it may not look like much but it can really add to a sig. It all depends on how you use it.

Its about tuts so yeah you can request a tut here. Here comes the text block!Since we must begin somewhere here goes the:Simple text:Ok lets say we have this sig in need of text:Posted ImageTake the type tool and click on where you want to write your text. Notice that in the top menu you can switch font, color, size and center the text or not.For simple text you should chose a simple font, don't take one too complicated or too thin.Set the size to something lower than 30 pix. If its too big it will take too much space and the simple text is best smaller since its not blended at all.Now make sure that your text is above all layers and right click on that layer and then click on this option here (ok sry if I can't find the names in english, I would really apreciate if ppl would help me for this >.< ) : Posted ImageThen make a drop shadow, you can use any settings as long as the shadow isn't too big and that it isn't too far from the text. Then add a default outer glow and you can use a bevel option at the condition that the text is still visible, don't overdo it.(to set those options you need to click on their names so they become highlighted like this:Posted Image) Posted ImageAnd here you go! You got a basic, quick text on your sig! Bump this right now so I can make another tut :( (I want one tut per post because I'm working on the links right now.)

Very nice work zan. Very detailed and helpful for noobs. My own crit would be the screenshots being in french. I know theres not much you can do but i think this tut would be alot easier with english screenies. Still though its very good

Thanks a lot! I would really like to be able to take english screenies too but that would mean buying another ps and that would be a waste of money.(Don't tell me to download it ppl, if theres something I like I will buy it, I won't download it.)

Now lets have some more interesting text tut. :( Here goes:Flashy textOk lets start with this sig:Posted ImageTo make what I call the flashy text here is what you must do:Take the type tool and click where you want your text to be. Then select a font that is not too thin and not too complicated, choose the size you want and keep the color white. Be sure that the text layer is above everything else. Now right click on the text layer and select the same thing as last time:Posted ImageAdd an external light with those settings (technique is default):Posted ImageNow it would look a bit plain alone this way wouldn't it?Posted ImageFor better effects you should add lines over and under the text, here is the best way to do so:Create a new layer and then take your pencil tool and drag a small line over the text like this:Posted ImageDuplicate that layer by right clicking it and selecting duplicate layer. Then drag the new line layer under the text, you can put both lines exactly one over the other or make one more to the right of the text and the other more to the left to make an angle effect. Now add the same glow as you gave your text to both of the lines but make the opacity of the glow over 90% (you can merge the layers to make it easier)Now for the finishing touch add a directional blur in filter/blur/directional blur and play with the pointer until you are satisfied (be sure the angle of the blur is 0 or else it won't look good at all)Here is my final result:Posted Image

Okay here comes some serious stuff that is awesome when used by pros. This is the long awaitedBroken textLets start with that random, fast made sig:Posted ImageFor this you will need a specific kind of font. It must be non attached, not too thin and clearly readable. (gothic typos might do) I recommend Ringbearer that can be found on dafont.com (Don't use all caps)Click on where you want your text to be. (Much better effects when it interacts with a pointy part of the render, you can make it so it looks cut out later.)Click again on the same option as in any other text tuts:Posted ImageFor this you want to add texture and make your text stand out. Make a noticable drop shadow by using aproxymatly those options:Posted Image(Choose the angle of your liking)Then add a default bevel and anything that you want to add in your text (don't use too much glow and stuff though, keep your text hard and solid)Then make everything but your text and your render invisible (that includes your text effects)Then right click on your text layer and pixelate it:Posted ImageNow here comes the manual part: zoom in your text and take the polygon lasso tool.Select each letters and cut them in 2 or more with the lasso the way you want your text to be cut. (Keep your lasso options to 0 pixels)Posted ImageKeeping the part of your letter selected go to edit/transform/rotate and rotate your text so it looks like it has been brutally cut off or broken. You can also select a small bit of your text and delete it so it looks like it was cut off or something. The more details you add the better it will end up (unless you make it unreadable)Here is what you can get in many minutes of work:Posted ImageThis method can be used so the text interacts with the render. (for example you can put your broken text in both sides of a sword)I hope this thing helped those who read it :P

Okay now I will drop back into the basics that I missed out:Pixel stretchThis is a way to do a good background layer or to give an effect over the brushing but do not use it alone or it will look empty.Create a new canvas with the size of your sig and then add the render you want to use on it.Posted ImageThen select the one of the small selection tools. For this tut take the vertical one(Click on the left topmost tool and choose the small vertical line)Now Choose a spot to put that selector on your render where you like the colors. I took this one on my render:Posted ImageNow click this in that order: Edit/copy -> Edit/pasteThis will create a new layer containing only the small line. Now you simply have to transform the line. Click on Edit/free transform and drag the line left and right until it covers all of your sig. Like this:Posted ImageThen just put the pixel stretch layer under your render and start brushing over it a bit. You can also put the layer over other brushing and set it to overlay. Use it as you see fit.

Well about the requests: I won't be able to do any tuts before I leave and I will be away for a month so you will have to be patient if you really want to see my lousy tuts. And Rundown please state exactly what you don't understand and where you are confused.

Not exactly graphics, but can make your sig graphic (and other parts) a little more pleasing. If you want to replace the 'user posted image' caption on pictures in your sig, replace your current image tag with:<img src="Place the image link here" TITLE="What you want your caption to now say.">You can also place the TITLE attribute on links (<a href="link" title="caption">Link title</a>), and on block formatting (<p title="caption">text</p>, <span title="caption">text</span>, or <div title="caption">text</div>)For reference: The only way to make a new line in a tool-tip is to type: & #13 (remove space between & and #)The only way to add a tab in a tool-tip is to type: & #09 (remove space between & and #)...or copy a tab from notepad.
