i think Pokemon fire red or leaf green, or for the visualboy, pokemon chaos black, it is a remake of pokemon fire red, it has all new pokemon, but i think the makers of pokemon didn't make that game, but it is still a great game, ppl say it is a hack, and it is.for the gbc i like pokemon yellow, it is the first pokemon game i played.

Fire Red and Leaf Green, they're like the original, except destroy your eye-sight less.

Well, Gold and Silver were the best in my opinion, but Firered and Leafgreen are about just as good as the originals so either of those 4 would be a good investment too.

You can pretty much start off with any of the games other than the Rnager/Dungeon ones. I recamend one of the later ones like Ruby/Saphire or Fire Red/Leaf Green if you don't mind watching somewhat long animations before the action starts pick up Emerald. Or once Diamond and Pearl come out in English pick either of those up to keep up to date with everybody else. The GB/GBC games are good except for the internal battery dieing in a few years like my Silver. Poor Silver, I hardly knew ye. But if you're emulating any game would be fine.

Blue and Red aren't that bad, but the remakes are better (graphics wise and etc.)...It's easier to complete the pokedex in the first generation games, so those are good to start with. (RBY)

Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald or FireRed/LeafGreen of course, since those are the only ones with decent graphics.I loved Gold/Silver/Crystal, but i wouldn't play it again now that there's newer games with better graphics and new storylines.

I would say to go in order, and go with the most interesting ones.Start with Yellow, then Crystal, then Emerald. And if you want Fire Red; Fire Red is a lot like the first games (red blue and yellow) though.

I would have to go with Fire Red or Leaf Green because it starts the story line.

Naturally it'd be blue or red. After playing those, you'd still be willing to play the newer ones because they are easier, have more pokemon, more TMs, more HMs, etc. If you play the newer ones first, you won't want to play the old ones because of the graphics.

The best to start with is Fire Red >.< because that's the best 'starting' game that has the original plot, though the plots don't stray too far from each other.

I would say Red/Blue because if you start from the VERY begining then you will be happy with things they have added in later versions and if you go backwards you will be. so if you are really honestly thinking of playing the pokemon series start from the begining
