Just start from the Bottom of the Story. but start with Leaf Green / Fire red because they have graphics... If you want your kids to get into pokemon i suggest Buying/Loaning some old Poke-Dvds

stick with the originals. I say blue is the way to go. Maybe you'll cheat, but then after you beat the game, go for yellow and do it all legit.

Either of the third releases for the first 2 generations (Yellow and crystal?) are good. The best would be any of the 3rd generation pokemon games.

Eh, just start with Diamond / Pearl.Or if you REALLY wanna feel cool and OG, just play with Firered/Leafgreen. Most of the old games aren't worth going to anymore. But yeah, I really wish they would have a remake of Gold/Silver ;[ My favorite pokemon games EVER.

I agree to start out with red/blue and go in order although you could start out at fire red leaf green.

Pokemon blue or red's a good starter. Then get yellow, because it has more features to make it seem better. Then gold, and so on until the newest games. Ifyou get the newest first, there won't be anything to improve on.

The best pokemon game to start off with is Pokemon Crystal. It has one of the biggest region totals, the most gymleaders in 1 game, and it lasts almnost the longest.

If its going to be your first Pokemon game then I suggest getting either Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green. Those are remakes of the first versions released and it will give you a feel to the Pokemon world.

Yes, they are advanced (truly advanced) remakes of Red and Blue (Green in Japan). With WAY better graphics, more Pokemon to catch, new challenges, the works.
