I was curious on how most of the people that visit this site go about choosing their games that expand there collection, whether it be a Rom or a legitimate copy of a game. Do you guys solely go off of what reviews say, and what scores these games get? Or do you think to yourself “Hmmm this might be interesting, think I might try it”? I personally go for the “Hmmm this looks interesting” approach. But what do you guys do?

I consult the fish deity 'Glub Glub'. :whistle2: I see a game, think it looks semi interesting, and get it, you'll probably find most folk are too lazy to go looking at reviews.

I do a mix of things, I read/watch/listen (never taste or smell) reviews. From there if there was no problems with controls -because nothing irritates me more than a game that doesnt' respond to what you do- also it'd give me a chance to see if the game looked like any fun. From there I'll decide for myself whether to spend my hard earned cash on it or not.

I read a review, play a demo, ask some friends, ask some enemies and depending on their answers I get a friend to buy the game so I can test it at his house. If the game turns out to be good, I might buy it.Nah. I just snatch a copy of what looks interesting. I don't try demos. But I do ask friends.

well theres games i know about like Kingdom Hearts and Metal Gear Solid that i just know are good and so i gotta buy them, then theres some games were i looked them up in magazine like Gamepro ect ect but over 70% of my video games i judged by the covor, if the covor looked good i'm like this would be good for my collection seriously i remember .hack//infection the covor was sooo cool with Aura on the front and it was all white i had to buy it so i did then i got hooked to the series but i'm not saying you should do this cause i do this alot i've returned like 20 games cause i "didn't like them" thats what it says on my return slips (you would know if you ever returned a game from ebgames they got the reason on the bottom) yea i'm lucky ebgames has a warranty thing were you can trade back the game within a year...

I pretty much always rent before I buy. Better to waste 5$ rather than 50$! And frankly, most games are beatable in a couple rentals anyway. There's just a few select games with good multiplayer or long playability that I will bother to buy. If not rentable, then demos or something. Plus my network of friends pretty much know whats good or bad.

Ok what I do is sometimes look at the reviews then I look at the picture then I ask some friends and sometimes if I just want to see what it feels like to play it I just go for it and if I don't like it I delete it.. yup my way of choosing a game....

When buying games I look at the pictures and features. I'm into SRPGs and it's really easy to pick those out of the bunch. When DLing, I just go for whatever looks fun.

I get games I know I'll love and play for hours. Games that have great replay value are the ones I go after. If it'll make me play it again and again, I'll buy it. I usually rent or try out a rom first.
